Great advice
I wish he had more books. He has such a good no-nonsense approach to diet culture and backs them up with scientific facts. Just listening the book will make you be more cautious on your next week’s shop

Straightforward guidance on healthy eating
This book reinforces and builds on Andrew’s previous book on why we eat too much but adds a lot more practical advice, the mental side to eating and changing our deeply ingrained bad habits has been a game changer for me, I have found this knowledge and new self awareness means I have changed my eating habits massively and incredibly easily, this is a really useful book if you want to overhaul your health, weight and your mental approach to food. A cracking listen!

a Clinician that understands
Dr Jenkinson truly understands the nature of weight gain in the 21st century and you can see the book was written with compassion as well as being well researched. The writing style is such that some complex concepts are easier to understand and remember. Highly recommend!

Outstanding!
I’m a doctor (physician) with a special interest in nutrition and “root cause” health. This book is outstanding and I recommend it to many of my patients (as well as friends and family!). It has a different perspective to his first one (Why We Eat) which was a relief, as I worried I was just going to hear basically the same message, but dressed up a bit. Thankfully, this is quite different and well worth the investment (both time & money). I still recommend people start with his first one, especially for anyone struggling with their weight, as it is more comprehensive re metabolism and the TRUE causes of obesity. But this one focuses on how what we eat affects our bodies/health and how to eat to maximise health (including staying a healthy weight).
Thank you Mr Jenkinson for packaging so much academically credible science into language the ordinary person can digest (pun intended!) thereby cutting through all the rubbish and mythology that bombards the public re health in the media. I hope the royalties earn you loads of money, to make up for all the potential bariatric surgery patients it will deny you!!
Ps. One small criticism…. please don’t encourage the use plastic food containers (the chapter on stocking a kitchen mentions Tupperware for storing leftovers) or at least don’t heat things in them!! There is strong emerging evidence that plastics release endocrine disrupting chemicals into food (and drinks) which harm metabolism and general health.

The truth about food finally told.
I have been struggling with my weight for over 45 years, trying different diets that never worked for me. They all focused on counting calories, but they did not address the root causes of my obesity. That’s why I was so impressed by Dr Andrew Jenkinson’s first book, Why We Eat (Too Much), which explained the science of appetite and metabolism in a clear and accessible way. His second book, How to Eat, builds on that knowledge and shows how to apply it in practice.
How to Eat is not just another diet book. It is a guide to nutrition and health that teaches you how to eat well and lose weight, without relying on willpower alone. It reveals how your brain, body, and environment influence your food choices, and how to overcome the traps of food marketing, junk food, and the Western diet. It also gives you practical tips and techniques to change your eating habits, such as how to ‘crave surf’, how to maintain a good metabolic rate, and how to use popular weight loss methods effectively.
After reading this book, I felt empowered and motivated to make better food decisions. I went to the supermarket with a new perspective, and I was surprised by how many foods I used to buy were actually unhealthy. I read the labels carefully and avoided the ones that contained hidden sugars, fats, and additives. I also bought more fresh and natural foods, and started cooking from scratch. It took me longer to shop and prepare my meals, but it was worth it.
This book is a game changer for anyone who wants to understand why they have weight problems and how to solve them. It is not about following a strict or restrictive diet, but about eating clean and smart. It is based on solid science, but also on common sense and experience. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to eat well and feel good.

Life Changing
This book has completely changed my outlook on processed foods and the impact they are having on our bodies without us even realizing. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is struggling with dieting or has an interest in bettering their health and nutrition. I have already lost weight and have really made no efforts to diet - it's simply changes my mindset. Fantastic book!

Really enjoyed listening to Dr Jenkinson’s follow up book after Why we eat (too much). It will change the way you see and think about food. Enlightening parts on exercise, habits, identity and relaxation exercises.
Reading this book will change your outlook on food and dieting forever. Recommend to anyone trying to lose weight or just trying to get healthier.
