About this listen
Author of Sunday Times best seller Life to the Limit.
In his 17 years as a Formula 1 driver, Jenson Button has picked up a thing or two about how to do the job properly. Sure, you need to be able to drive a car fast - and Jenson is on hand to pass on a few tricks of the trade here - but you also need to know the real rules for making it to the top.
Like, how to tell a multiple F1 champion they need to check their blind spot. What the difference is between a helmet and a hat, and indeed a 'helmet-hat'. How to practise your champagne spray ahead of the big day. Why it is never, ever, under any circumstances a good idea to buy a yacht. And how to face down your team when you've just stacked their multi-million-pound car into a wall during practice.
But 'JB' (nicknames in F1 run the full range from initials to, well, just using first names) doesn't stop there. HTBAF1D (catchy) lifts the lid on the people, the places, the weird rituals, the motorhomes, the media, the cars, the perks and the disasters. Join Jenson as he reveals how not to race a stupid big truck, why driving Le Mans is like having five shots of tequila before lunch and what to do when you finally hang up your helmet-hat.

A lot of fun
This is such a fun listen. Jenson's tongue in cheek look back over his f1 career. Not too shy shy to mention names and characters and what he thought of them. Made me laugh in a lot of places too. Definitely worth a listen/read, even if you are not an F1 fan. You will still enjoy it.

Best narration I've heard
A different take on F1, not just an insight into driving and race day, but also the extravagant life of a driver at the top of his game - such as the eye-watering costs of going somewhere in your yacht! The narrator was the best I've ever heard, great infliction and it's easy to forget it's not Jenson.

Entertaining and inspiring book for F1 fans
I’ve been an F1 fan since the late ‘90s, and Jenson Button has always stood out as one of my favorite drivers. On the track, he came across as a true gentleman—witty, composed, and someone who carried himself with grace and professionalism. He felt like a role model, and listening to How to Be an F1 Driver confirmed that impression completely.
The book is a delightful mix of humor, behind-the-scenes stories, and Button’s trademark charm, all brought to life by his engaging narration. It offers fascinating insights into the highs and lows of an F1 career, showing the grit, humor, and personality behind the helmet.
Whether you're a longtime fan of Button or just love Formula 1, this book is a must-have. It’s entertaining, inspiring, and a wonderful peek into the life of one of the sport’s greats.

Very good read
It’s a really good read about this Journey and life skills picked up I feel that Jbs first book was better and a lot more interesting and had a very good in-depth karting part to it I am a massive JB fan loved him as a drive and love him in his new Avengers just hope that if he can find the time to write a other book he really focuses a big part of it on his karting career as my son is a up and coming fan and loves the karting parts with a passion overall 9 out of 10 so not all bad jb lol

A fun F1 listen
some F1 books can be a bit heavy, demanding alot of attention, this is a great book for on the commute to work or on a walk. we'll written and an easy listen with good humour. Always prefer books read by yhe author when it's biography or similar, however the reading here is really good and has had me pick up Jensons Autobiography after listening to this one.
