Summary
The guilty professor.
Dr. Vail Mifflin has been emotionally knocked out by his father’s murder. He can’t prove a thing, but hitmen from one of the mob families he dug up info about are the suspected culprits. They wanted Vail dead, not his father, who was caught in the crossfire. In a struggle with his grief and ADHD, which is worse with the additional stress, Vail isn’t himself. He leans heavily on Aspen, Fallon, Rowen, and Cillian to keep him safe while he tries to cope.
The Irish mob to the rescue.
Cillian is enraged. He and the boys went to a lot of trouble to send a violent message to the Italians who had it out for Vail, and as a result, the Irish mob boss, Sloan Killough, told Vail he can go back to his job teaching. Cillian isn’t so sure the hit that was put out on Vail has been recalled. The big issue: Vail doesn’t want to lose his career.
The Killough Company goes to war.
The boys get word Vail’s life is still in danger. All the work they’ve done so far might be for nothing, and at this point, they want to keep Vail. To prove once and for all NYC belongs to the Killough Company, and what they say goes, the Irish mob teams up with Elio Folliero to make a stand. When Vail is kidnapped and his teaching assistant is shot, the boys are on edge. Can they keep Vail alive or was he doomed from the start?
How Do You Survive with Us? is danger-filled and exciting, but never fear, it also has a guaranteed happily ever after.

Book 2 and such a great story.
Irish mobsters and a neurodivergent professor
The follow-on from book 1, and I couldn't wait to continue that story. This is a copy of the first review as the characters remain, and the story is good.
Dr. Vail Mifflin what a well-written character, and I loved how life was not just happy. He has issues and had to deal with a lot. But there is also humour and maybe a touch of sex... OK, a lot.
Irish mafia, the characters and accents were well rounded and seriously good.
Overall, it is a great story that was only made better by being in audible.
A new to me narrator Mac Rae has excellent accents and is a pleasure to listen to, clean and concise. I speed this narration up to 1.25 on Audible, which is usual for me.

I received this audiobook for free from GRR at my request. My review is my opinion and an honest review - neither the author nor GRR influenced my opinion.

Heart pounding conclusion
Vail is completely broken after he loses his father because he blames himself, believing that his life long passion has cost him his life.
This grief is compounded by his teaching assistant Lor also getting caught up in the crossfire.
He's been given the green light to return to life as before (as impossible as that seems) because the threat is believed to have been eradicated.
Cillian, however isn't convinced believing Vail to still be in danger and of course he's absolutely right.
I loved that this part of the story focused more on these amazing men both as individuals and as a group.
Each man brings something unique to the relationship and especially as individuals to help Vail.
It was absolutely beautiful to see them be so vulnerable with each other and become that much more cohesive as a group.
It wasn't easy to successfully combine 5 men into believable, loving, working relationship and I really appreciated that the authors didn't just gloss over the hard parts and that they really made them work for it.
Mac Rae did a stellar job narrating and is quickly becoming a new favorite narrator for me.

Absolutely amazing!
I completely devoured this book! The series as a whole is amazing - one of my all time favs - and Mac Rae has done a stellar narration here. The accents are perfect, the storytelling exceptional and it was a complete dream. You gotta check these out but definitely start with book 1!

Wonderful instalment
I really enjoy these books. Tho I often do when talking about poly and this one turns the harem into a more poly romance with the others starting to see each other as more then what they always thoughts they were.

Even better than book 1
I loved this series when I read the books. They are just so well written and so freaking hot. I thought it would be almost impossible to do it justice in audio and with only one narrator. But Mac Rae is simply outside - there’s such a clear distinction between the characters and the voices and accents are just amazing. You won’t wanna skip this series - trust me!

… and the wild ride continnues!
I loved revisiting Vail and his men and this book takes their relationship even further. It picks up immediately after the end of book one and if you’ve read or listened to the first book you have to listen to this one as well.
This book makes their relationship more complete, both because Vail, Rowen, and Cillian are joined by Aspen and Fallon in their RH group and because their feelings deepen. I liked that a lot, one of the things that I particularily liked was the absence of judgement, both within this loving family and from some people outside of it.
Like the first book this one has a very high heat level and the authors manage to make each encounter new and fresh.
Mac Rae is an amazing narrator and I can’t mention enough how right he is for this series! He makes it an even bigger joy to listen to this audiobook.

Fantastic, thrilling and captivating!
I couldn't put it down!
I found this one more engrossing than book 1 and so much happens over the course of the book! Each of these men come into their own, grow, change and love as Vail fits himself into their lives and world. each man has his own relationship with Vail but I love the blossoming relationships between the others, it's surprisingly sweet and done very organically that I can't wait to see these connection grow!
These men are dangerous mobsters but they each have their own intricacies that make them more than their job. They each love Vail in their own ways and with each thrilling moment and danger at each turn their connections grow stronger and stronger. I feel that Vail softened and even healed parts of each of his men so they could be better together and with each other.
I love Fallon and his sweetness and flirty natured is a great counter balance to the stoic Aspen, firey Cillian and the endearing Rowan. I'm so glad Ki & Meg decided to extend the series! These men need all the stories, love and s*X and I can't wait for more!
Narration:
Book 1 was my first time hearing Mac and he's fantastic! it took a little time to get my head around the thick Irish speak in some parts but Mac brings these characters to life! He's created tones, accents and dialects for each character (and there is A LOT) and has then flow seemlessly throughout the audiobook. He injects emotion in each moment without overdoing it and his performance brings out so much more of the story and the obvious and underlying emotions! I really enjoyed his performance and can't wait to hear more from this narrator soon!

Great series, wonderful narration!
The second book is as hot as the first, and real feelings start to kick in, too! All of our four favourite Irish mobsters are settling in, with a bit of adjustment, with their Professor… between the struggles to keep an hostile Italian family at bay (and thus keeping Vail safe) and the tuning needed perfect their extraordinary relationship, the book is a whirlwind of emotions!
Again, the narration is wonderful with a swoony Irish accent and this duology was absolutely perfect!
