Summary

Home Brewing: A DIY Guide to Creating Your Own Craft Beer from Scratch is intended as a starting guide to home brewing beer. Beer has been around for hundreds of years, and its very early history was in the homes of beer lovers as they tried to create their own delicious drinks. As time has gone on, the process for making beer has been refined so that it can now be commercially produced, but that has not stopped hobbyists from continuing to make homemade beer just for the fun of it.

Because brewing beer is such a long and scientific process, each step of the way presents the brewer with new options and techniques that can be tweaked any which way to create new styles and flavors. The beauty of the craft beer industry and home brewing is that it allows for plenty of creativity and innovation, which has produced hundreds of different types of beer that all have their own unique flavor. As you get further into home brewing, you too can emulate these styles and maybe someday create your own.

This book begins with a brief history of the craft brewing industry and its impact on home brewing, then goes into detail about how to get started brewing beer within the comforts of your own home. From equipment to ingredients, we have provided full descriptions of everything you need. It is meant as a guide for absolute beginners, so we have gone into detail about what is known as extract home brewing, but even those who are interested in partial mash brewing and all-grain brewing will find a wealth of useful information. Though our step-by-step brewing process is not specific to any one kind of beer, we have also provided a guide to the different styles so that you can modify the steps, as you need. Whether you want to create your own India pale ale or pilsner, we have the answers.

five stars

I agree with all the reviews praising this book. The book educates the listener in a hands on way that can still (and will) be used as a reference for future brews. Want to know how to add coffee to a beer? Decide which malt and hops to combine in a recipe? Make a sour beer? The book explains in a concise way that I've found to be trustworthy--a definite bump up in usability compared with scrolling through home brew community pages for hours (fun when you have time, not when you're mid-brew)

Guide to Creating Your Own Craft Beer

you get more comfortable with the process (and brew some pretty decent beers right out of the gate), you're naturally drawn into the deeper chapters that are designed to walk you down the path of becoming a more and more sophisticated brewer.

Interesting book....

It is perfect for the extract brewer who is looking to move to all grain brewing. It is useful for the all grain brewer who wants to learn what works and what doesn't without years of experimentation (I fall into this category; I've been all-grain brewing on and off for many years).

home brewing

This is regarded as one of the best books for home brewing. It is a must have on any home brewer's bookshelf. My only complaint is that it's an older book and probably needs an updated version. It's obvious that this book was written prior to YouTube and doesn't make use of the internet as a tool. Also, it lacks information on the Brew in a Bag method. But, the information in this book is invaluable.

Great book

I purchased this as a gift along with a home brew kit. After researching every homebrew book I could find, this one seemed to be everyone's go-to/favorite. I did glance through it and liked what I did read. It seems to cover many subjects for beginners and long time brewers. I hope it's helpful for him

nice book

A great book for those starting or wanting to improve their homebrewing skills. This was a replacement book. I had an earlier version that I loaned to a buddy just getting started in homebrewing. He liked it so much I told he could keep it. I wanted to upgrade to a later version.

Interesting book....

My husband was advised to get this book by other home brewers both in classes and online. He has made some very respectable beer. Although the price of the book is very reasonable it created the need for quite an investment of other brew making equipment and products. Well, whatever keeps him off the streets.
