Summary
Sixteen-year-old Alex, his 12-year-old brother James, and their feisty friend Bim have a life-or-death mission. Ruthless armed thugs have captured two innocent wildlife conservationists: the boy's parents. Only the three children have time to engineer a rescue before the kidnappers reach their hideout high in the Himalayas. But saving them means crossing two high passes, negotiating terrifying crags, and fleeing from hungry predators. Surely they can't succeed?

Leaves me wanting to read more of these adventures
From a family member who is not able to post for themselves with their own account:
I listened to the audiobook version of this book.
This is the second book in the series. I have listened to the first and third books in the series.
I enjoyed hearing about how James and Alex met Bim. Bim is a Nepalese character and helps Alex and James save their parents.
I liked how the characters James and Alex are very mature and know so much and also are very brave. I like James’ character a lot more from reading this book than I did previously in the other books.
The story is set in Nepal. I found it very interesting how corrupt parts of the country were in the story that Alex and James could not get any help from the authorities for a lot of the story.
I enjoyed listening to the information about Nepal, its wildlife and culture. I found it interesting to learn about what mountain sickness is.
As with the other books in the series this book also comes with an accompanying pdf with pictures relating to the story which is great and the reading is great on the audiobook as well.
It is fast paced, easy to listen to and understand but also introduces the listener to possibly new places and themes which I personally have not read about outside of this series. I would recommend it.

Great story of how two boys tried to save their parents
I 'read' this as an audio book.
It didn't take long for the plot to be known, so I plunged into the adventure very quickly. The description of Nepal brought back memories of when I walked the Annapurna circuit.
Every now and then, there were little gems of knowledge which you only know if you have been in Nepal for a while. That was worth the 'read'.
Alex is very grown up and added a lot of excitement in the rescue plot. Perhaps James will start blossoming in the next book. Glad the rescue had a happy outcome.

Description s of Himalayan life are accurate and bring story to life. Transports you straight to sounds sights of Nepal. This is now the third book I have read of James Ans Alex adventures and although I am not target audience I love being transported into an adventure. A must read for curious teenagers , good to read while on holiday.

Thrilling adventure novel based in the mountains of Nepal
From start to finish, this is a fantastic and fast paced tale of adventure and camaraderie in the Himalayas. There are twists and surprises throughout and the local sounds at the start of every episode sets the scene wonderfully. It’s a gripping read!
