About this listen

Shakespeare’s timeless story of revenge, corruption, and murder is considered one of the greatest works in the English language. Prince Hamlet sets out to avenge his beloved father's death at the hand of his uncle Claudius - but Hamlet's spiral into grief and madness will have permanent and immutable consequences for the Kingdom of Denmark. Composed over 400 years ago, Hamlet remains one of the theater’s most studied and performed works, and is presented here in a stunning, sound-rich, full-cast recording.

Recorded at The Invisible Studios, West Hollywood, in August 2011.

Lead funding is provided by the Rosenthal Family Foundation.

good performance!

initially I found the cast were speaking quite fast, some of the accents are American which was a bit odd. once I got going I really enjoyed it - I forgot how many of Shakespeare's memorable speeches come from this play!
well worth a listen.

Audio assist is the way to go...

Audio assist is the way to go, if you've been struggling to read Shakespeare or any classic to be honest. Glad I picked this up out of my did not finish and will not finish pile, because it gave. Act four lost me and Act five was weak. The first four Acts amazing. I'm coming to learn that Shakespeare has a thing for killing his cast off, (walking dead, game of thrones who?).
