Summary

Gideon is a centuries-old vampire warrior with a broken heart....

Which is why he’s vowed never to risk it again. Instead, he’s channeled his passion and his legendary self-control into becoming a skilled protector - one who’s promised to wield his sword alongside a young wolf shifter leader on a mission from the mysterious Oracle to protect the human realm against the broken magic that threatens its very existence. He’s doing just fine without love, thank you very much...at least until his incubus ex reappears in his life.

Taj is an incubus without a home....

And that is every bit as unpleasant as it sounds. Banished to the human realm, Taj is learning the hard way that survival is for the fittest and, um...he’s not as fit as he thought he was. Not when his past keeps coming back to haunt him. Still, it’s only when another incubus is involved in a series of brutal attacks and Taj’s ex, Gideon, rides to the rescue that Taj learns just how dangerous this human realm might be to his life...and to his heart.

But although the fire between Gideon and Taj burns hotter than ever, they’ll need to break through the wall of secrets that divides them if they want a chance to set things right....

A second chance for the human realm.

A second chance at finding a home in the welcoming arms of their new pack.

And a second chance at building a future...together.

All good except one little thing

Again another well read book by a Michael, my only complaint is the voices of characters previously met in the other 4 books had different voices this time round. I found that a little jarring. If you are listening to the books separately you won’t really pick up on it but if you listen to the Magical Mates then Chosen Champions you may well also pick up on it. I’m hopeful that the others in this world whether it’s from the Chosen Champion series or the other connected series will all have similar voices. I appreciate that it’s a lot of different books a narrator reads. I just found it a little disappointing. Still a good performance.

MM Shifter Series

In each book, the story gets better and better. Again, this book kept me gripped, and I loved it.

I love how we are getting more and more characters with each book, but they all link together so well. Plus, there's a lot of hot sex, and I mean a lot. But the imagination of Macy Blake is incredible. Each shifter is so different but sexy as hell, hence all the hot sex.

This is an incredible series and is a must-read for anyone who loves a bit of paranormal MM romance.

The narration was on point, but Michael Dean never disappoints me. I did, however, speed up to 1.20 on Audible, which is my norm.

Ok book

I didn't enjoy this book as much as the first in the series. I found the humans in the pack to be annoying, especially Bailey. The original pack seemed to allow the humans to take over and Bailey was bossy and controlling. Yes, he had problems after what happened in the first book but it was wrong the way he was bullying Taj to do what he wanted. I also didn't like how Logan ignored how Taj felt after his horrific experience and told Taj that he was going to do as Bailey wanted. I find the human characters to be so irritating that I'm not sure that I will continue with the series. The storyline regarding the club as well as the relationship between Gideon and Taj and friendship with Eric was interesting. I also liked the narration, though Bailey sounded bitchy throughout the book. Maybe that was how the character was written and had nothing to do with the narrator. Either way, I will have to decide if I am willing to accept annoying characters in order to hear more about the people they are chasing.
