About this listen
A killing like no other.
A killer more twisted than he’s ever seen before.
A case that will test him to the limit.
Has Robert Hunter finally met his match?
‘Do you believe the Devil exists, Detective?’ the officer at the end of the line asks. ‘Because if you don’t . . . I’m sure you will once you get here.’
Robert Hunter is called to the most vicious crime scene he has ever attended. It is made even more disturbing when the autopsy reveals a poem, left by the killer, inside the body of their victim.
Soon, another body is found. The methods and signature of the murder differs, but the level of violence used suggests that the same person is behind both crimes. Hunter’s fears are confirmed when a second part of the poem is found.
But this discovery does more than just link the two killings – it suggests that this is the work of a serial murderer.
With no forensic evidence to go on, Robert Hunter must catch the most disciplined and systematic killer that he has ever encountered, someone who thrives on the victims' fear, and to whom death is a lesson that needs to be taught.
From #1 Sunday Times and multi-million copy bestselling author, Chris Carter, comes the most compelling and ruthless Robert Hunter thriller yet.

Excellent gore fest and murder drama
Downloaded this one as I'm now binging this author. Absolutely great plot and very well written. I'm now worried I have a very twisted mind as I really enjoyed it, and it's rather dark.

Brilliant
Decent story, and very immersive. Some glitches on the audio (like the narrator going in and out of an “on the phone” effect randomly) but the performance itself was awesome.
Highly recommended

Will have to twiddle my thumbs now….
I had this on order as soon as I knew it would be released and it’s brilliant! If you’ve followed the series you will know our hero’s and their back stories if not go back to the beginning!
So there’s a serial killer on the loose and they have some cracking methods of bopping off their victims. Again Hunter and Garcia have to solve the case. Lots of blood, gore, red herrings and twists… all the usual Carter ingredients. I didn’t see the big reveal or smell the bad egg which is a good thing.
So now I’m twiddling my thumbs till number 13 comes out which I hope is soon…. Tumbleweed blows past…

Gripping story
The storyline is tight and there's plenty of suspense. Performance is good, although there are some minor flaws while the narrator switched from character to character in conversations. The special effect with phone conversations was a nice touch, though it didn't always work out. All in all a very enjoyable listen. Would recommend.

Genesis by Chris Carter
This is the 1st time I’ve listened to one of Chris’s books. I’ve read every one of the Hunter/ Garcia books, and they don’t disappoint, but the audio was brilliant. Fantastic Narrator.
Chris is one of my all time favourite authors. Hopefully I’ll be able to meet him one day 🤘🏼
Fascinating & Terrifying, and not for the faint hearted! Chris is the best at what he does.
I want Hunter/ Garcia to be made into a film, preferably many films.
I’m waiting patiently for the next instalment Chris 🤘🏼

Dark
This was a refreshing return to the Hunter books where our hero is less involved, and nice to see Carter has moved away from the Batman & Robin relationship between the two detectives that has plagued a few of the other books in the series.
The story moved at a good pace and kept me hooked, although a couple of the twists and turns were more predictable than I'm used to.
One thing that annoyed me with this recording is the editing isn't quite right, there's a good few instances through the book where the "phone voice" effect has been incorrectly applied which makes it a little harder to become absorbed by the book.
