Summary

A Siege of Terra Novella

Nathaniel Garro, the loyalist who betrayed his father Mortarion to warn the Emperor of the horrors of Isstvan, is brought face to face with the hideously changed Primarch.

Listen to it because...

It’s the conclusion of a story that began long ago in Flight of the Eisenstein. A loyalist son confronts his traitorous father.

The story:

As the epic battle for Terra rages and the future of mankind hangs in the balance, former Knight Errant Nathaniel Garro fights among the ashes and fire of the embattled Imperial Palace as the shadow of Horus Lupercal's triumph looms. From the brutal betrayal at Isstvan to the desperate flight of the Eisenstein, through his missions as Malcador the Sigillite's Agentia Primus, Garro's path has drawn him inexorably towards a destiny that can only end in bloodshed.

As he struggles to protect Euphrati Keeler, the first Saint of the Imperial Church, from the horrors of this titanic war, Garro must face his greatest enemy – his father, Mortarion, his former master, and the monstrous liege-lord of the traitorous Death Guard – in a final, shattering confrontation.

Another great Nathaniel Garro story.

James has written the lore for a character which is one of my favourite characters in the Heresy. Such a great character that my own son is now named Nathaniel. This is a fantastic story which is fitting to be told in a novella such as this. Thanks James.
It had me crying at the end.

A fitting end for one of the Heresy’s heroes

My only complaint is that this story wasn’t released before Warhawk. You have to have read some of the Death Guard HH books to get the handful of the references / leaps backward in the timeline…but it doesn’t detract from it. Definitely an awesome story arc to follow throughout the heresy!

Moving account of Nathaniel Garro’s last endeavor

Wonderful story well told. Closes the loop that was begun with Garro’s flight from Istvan

Fitting end for Garro

Gives Garro a nice send-off, little else really happens though, I feel like Sigismund was a superior title but get this if you love your proto-grey knights

spoilers in description, listen because it's Great

A Great end to a Great character, with a victory that even death can't deny. The story manages to perfectly blend all of Garro's and the other characters experience so far in a fitting finale that feels like a natural conclusion, planned from the start while still having some unexpected turns to make the ending unforgettable and possibly hinting at something to come later. Must have for any one who likes Garro as a character.

A must. Short but sweet.

A fitting tale for so great a figure. If you love Garro and all he stands for. If you fear and love the Emperor as a good citizen should. If you crave the glimmer of hope for the coming dawn. This book is for you. Blessed be the Emperor! Ave in excelsis Terra!
