Summary

When the historic Hopkins ferry was raised from the bottom of the lake, who would have thought they were literally raising the dead! But there it was—a skeleton—right before their eyes. Unfortunately, the evidence is slim and soggy: the boat sank in 1949, the victim on board was a woman, and near the body is a piece of unidentifiable lacelike fabric. Sounds like a job for Betsy Devonshire. Betsy knows there's more to this story than what’s on the surface. And once she and patrons of her needlecraft shop start lending a hand, they're sure to stitch together the details of this unnerving mystery...

Great stories

I love the mix of needlecraft and mystery. Inspiring me to try new crafts. Brilliant that these books are on audible as I can listen and see at the same time.

A different story

As it’s set in Minnesota, and in a needlework/ knitting shop it was an unusual setting. A good storyline and I have enjoyed it.

Still an interesting Cosy, Cozy.

I’m very appreciative of this free series from Audible - the only downside to it (not a deal breaker), is that the narrator, Susan Boyce, seems to struggle sometimes with her ability to switch timbre in different voices within a conversation setting, so you cannot always follow who is talking.

Notwithstanding this (you kinda adapt), the plots of themselves are very cleverly done. This is the only one - to date - where a chance encounter and conversation, proved to supply an invaluable clue that, the police would not have had direct access to.

These stories are not the typical amateur sleuth style of stories. They’re not meant to be. They are incidental deaths/mysteries happening within the day to day activities of trying to maintain a small business and staff, whilst simultaneously learning the intricacies of said business, both professionally and fiscally!

There may be reviews that put this work down, but I imagine that they prefer the typically ditzy flimsy no clue sleuths. This has more depth of character.
