It was ok but not amazing.
I have mixed feelings for the book. It started really well and was developing in a good way that peak my interest and kept me enthralled wanting to know what was going to happen. The chemistry between Michael and Zaira is great, and there's a spark there that even Zaira not being able to remember anything about them feels it too, and I really liked it.
The drawback is, that after the first few chapters the story stars to fall apart and filled with dialogue that wasn't really important to enhance the story. Then everything gets rushed and we get the end that is a really silly cliffhanger, and it left me more upset with Zaira because her reaction about the things that happened, even after learning the truth, didn't really made sense.
The narration by Mark Bravo and Maya Bravo was good. Mark Bravo has a good and deep voice, but sometimes it sounded a little bit monotone. Maya's voice was likeable and I did like her narration, her tone and paced were good for Zaira's character.

Evil!
Michael and Zaira grew up together. They were very close. They were both children of very prominent Families. Both their parents thought they would grow up and marry each other. Until the tragic loss of Zaria's mother. Michael's father is accused of killing her and their families are torn apart. They haven't spoken in five years when Zaria's father agrees to marry her off without even consulting with her first. She confides in her brother who decides that their father must be stopped at all costs. Even if that means removing him from the situation entirely. I'm going to start this review by stating one simple fact that I'm learning more and more with each Amy Cecil book. Amy Cecil is pure evil. She knows exactly how to hook you in and then leave you hanging. I know this sounds like an insult. It's not. I'm just stating that she's an evil genius. I've read multiple books by her and I've loved every single one of them. This book has been no exception to that. I especially loved the small reference to another series that I read of hers. It was great! I only had a few small issues with this book. The biggest was the time flow. It doesn't really clarify when the type jumps forward or how far forward it jumps ahead. Well I can't say that about every single instance. There are times it is clarified. There are also times that it isn't. It's a very small issue that didn't really hurt the story at all. I will warn the reader that this book does contain a cliffhanger ending. That's an Amy Cecil stamp. Did I mention she was pure evil? This book was narrated by Mark and Maya May Bravo. If I'm not mistaken, they have narrated other books by Amy Cecil as well. They did a great job on this one. They have done an amazing job on all of the audiobooks I've listened to that they did quite honestly. I didn't have as positive of an opinion of them at first. I retract that. It was me not being as into the audiobook world as I am now. I definitely see how great of a quality they have now. Did I love the book? Yes. I did very much. Will I read the second book? Of course! It's taking a lot of willpower not to grab the book now and devour it. Amy Cecil has quickly become one of my favorite authors of all times. I love her style. She makes the most cringy troupes alluring. She even rocks a cliffhanger. I'm still going to say that she's pure evil. I can't help it that I love that brand of evil.

Love the idea and the narration
I'm not usually a listener of mafia stories but something about the blurb of this one intrigued me enough to listen. And I'm glad I did as I really enjoyed it. I really like the set up of the story and more than once I wanted to slap Michael up the back of the head for being so stupid...oh well karma got him! i love the way that Maya May Bravo and Mark Bravo brought these characters to life. And I also like the tie in to another of Amy Cecil's series.

Enjoyed it
Forgetting The Enemy was an engrossing mafia tale that will have you at the edge of your seat. Filled with love, loyalty, betrayal, revenge, lies and deceit, with developed, likable characters who had intense chemistry, hott steamy scenes, some twists you won't expect and a cliff-hanger that will leave you wanting more, this novel will have you riveted and anxious for the next book to know what happens next. I would recommend this novel to all lovers of mafia romance.
The audiobook was narrated by Mark Bravo, Maya May Bravo. They are two new to me narrators and I enjoyed their style of narration. They had great pace and timing and brought the story to life. It was a pleasure listening to them narrate this novel.

A Pleasing Listen
Forgetting The Enemy is an edge of your seat, enthralling story that is a great listen. This dark mafia romance was full of well developed characters whose relationships made for a good story. Unfortunately there is one of those dreaded cliffhangers but I look forward to more.
The voice acting by Mark Bravo, Maya May Bravo was well narrated and enthralling and I hope to read more by them.

Michael and Zaira!
Michael is the heir to the Vitali family and he is determined to follow the example that his father set which is that nothing is more important than family. Zaira is the daughter of the head of the Bonito family. At one time the Vitali family and the Bonito family were allies but their past has made them enemies.
When fate steps in and Michael rescues Zaira he looks at her memory loss as a blessing rather than a curse. She is the one woman he has ever wanted, and he is not about to let the opportunity go to waste. Will she remember her past and why they shouldn’t be together, or will she only remember what he chooses to share with her?
This story takes you on a wild ride full of twists, secrets and lies which all culminate into a cliffhanger that leaves you wondering what the future holds for this couple. Zaira is feisty and fiery while Michael is loyal and protective and there is no denying the chemistry between them. I received a complimentary copy of the audiobook and enjoyed the performance of both of the narrators. 🎧 Audiobook Obsession

Michael & Zaira
Mafia romance always appeals to me. That hint of danger just aids to the mystique of the budding relationship. Meet Michael. He is taking over the Vitaliti crime organization. He has always loved Zaira and has every intention of marrying her even though she is daughter of the rival family. An opportunity presents itself to put his plan into action when Zaira is victim to a blow to the head and she has amnesia. Will she remember who he is and what he did? What an action packed, fun ride this book is. The history of the families is woven so intricately it’s hard to believe these two who were close when young wouldn’t end up together. But like a true rival family, this union is not going to be happy, especially if Zaira gets her memory back. Will Michael and Zaira find their happiness? What will happen if she does get her memory back? And will the families meld? It’s so worth the listen, even though Amy Cecil does leave us with a cliffhanger! Suspense, family, violence, a flash to the Knights of Silence, passion, it’s all there in this first installment! Time to grab it and listen.
I love Mark and Maya Bravo. These two know how to bring a book to life. I enjoy their style and voices. Together they mold their narrations into the characters and let us live the story. Loved this and looking forward to the next one in the series.
