Summary
"You say I'll never own you. If I win - you willingly give me that right. You sign not only the debt agreement, but another - one that makes me your master until your last breath is taken. You do that, and I'll give you this."
Nila Weaver's family is indebted. Stolen, taken, and bound not by monsters but by an agreement written over 600 years ago, she has no way out.
She belongs to Jethro as much as she denies it.
Jethro Hawk's patience is running out. His inheritance gift tests, challenges, and surprises him - and not in good ways. He hasn't leashed her but he thinks he might've found a way to bind her forever.
Debts are mounting. Payment waiting.

Better
Ok, so I'm always eager to admit that I may possibly be wrong. You see, I slammed book one and the audio too, but I also said that I'd reserve true judgement on this book. Well the judgement is in.
Whereas book one failed in some ways, there was always the possibility that it could get better. After all, the first book held promise and the concept completely different to the usual enemies to lovers books out there. And thankfully book two has delivered!!
The circumstances for the debt inheritance and the debts to be repaid are explored far more in this book.
While accepting responsibility for her what her ancestors had done in the 1400s and agreeing to pay that first debt, she is given a history lesson by Jethro. He tells her all about the beginning of the horrendous abuse his family had suffered, at the hands of her family, and what happened at the end of this first transgression.
Meanwhile, Jethro is losing his cool exterior in more ways than one. After catching Nila, he draws up the new contract, one he names the "Sacrificial Pledge," and has Nila signing it. But what is happening behind Jethro's back??
Kestrel is after Nila for himself and starts by building up a friendship. He works hard at getting her to trust him, and when Jethro finds out, just how close they are getting, this is when he exacts the first debt.
However, Nila now believes she has found out who exactly Kitey007 actually is, but how is she going to get that person to admit to it?? More importantly though is one question she hasn't asked herself.....is she even correct.
There's so much more happening in this book, feelings of betrayal, self righteous indignation from both sides, fights and lots and lots of lust!!
Along with the book is the audio. Again narrating this book are Kylie C Stewart and Will M Watt. This is also slightly better than the first audio, but I'm afraid that it's only slightly!!
The problem I have with them, is the fact that there is no different tones for different key characters. Although I suppose that's a little unfair to say about Kylie, after all she only eager narrates for Nila as there are few to no other female characters. But in this book, there has been two others. The first was Bonnie, the grandmother who it seems is just as bloodthirsty as the rest of them and a maid!!
Regardless there are far better narrators out there, but then again, there are at least five others I've come across that are far worse. Had i not bought all of the books and audios In one go, I'd definitely not bother with them!! Trust me, the next time my friend gives me her recommendations, I'll just get the one to begin with!!
So as to whether I'd recommend. Hmm 🤔🤔
I'd say yes definitely for the book, but a pass on the audio. Cya later 😉😉
