Summary
Finding Stevie is a dark and poignant true story that highlights the dangers lurking online.
When Stevie’s social worker tells Cathy, an experienced foster carer, that Stevie, 14, is gender fluid she isn’t sure what that term means and looks it up.
Stevie, together with his younger brother and sister, have been brought up by their grandparents as their mother is in prison. But the grandparents can no longer cope with Stevie’s behaviour so they place him in care.
Stevie is exploring his gender identity, and like many young people he spends time online. Cathy warns him about the dangers of talking to strangers online and advises him how to stay safe. When his younger siblings tell their grandmother that they have a secret they can’t tell, Cathy is worried. However, nothing could have prepared her for the truth when Stevie finally breaks down and confesses what he’s done.

Another fantastic offering.
Another really great book by this author. Enjoy all of her books. The subject was very delecate but she handled it really well. The story of Stevie really brings home how important it is to keep yourself safe online and how vital it is to make sure your children are safe also.

Education and true to life
A unique account in the Cathy Glass series that is both emotive and educational. A good read!

wow
I found my self shouting at the book (Cathy) for not noticing the signs, exceptional book. I haven't connected to a book like this since 'a child called it' by the amazing Dave Pelzer. Keep them coming Cathy, read and listened to most of your books :)

what a turn of events
goodness this one truly has you wanting to listen for ours in end just to know what happens next. The synopsis of the book does no justice for it twisting content and what started out as a seemingly simple placement soon became rife with twists. at times heartbreaking and others unbelievably angering. The sheer professionalism, tact and patience of Cathy is no more evident than in Steve's story.

Great book
I think this is a great book but at some points I was like oh no I would not want him in my house but then towards the end you realise what has happened to him and just wanted to give him a cuddle and say everything will be ok.

A detailed account of Cathy Glass’ experience of caring for a specific foster child
I really enjoyed this book. It was at times heartwarming as she made breakthroughs with Stevie’s needs & care and at other times, I felt her frustration of not being able to ‘reach’ Stevie as he battled, with his gender identification, bullying & online grooming.
The book most definitely reflects, many aspects of teenage difficulties in today’s society, as they attempt to navigate living in a technological age, accompanied by values & beliefs of Grandparents generation, compared to those of today.
I’ve got a broad knowledge of children in foster care and I believe that once more Cathy Glass’ book is representative of the trials and tribulations of both Social Services & foster care in the UK today!

Gripping!
Fantastic, brilliantly read and informative without going over the top with un necessary details which detract from the story.
Am already hunting for my next Cathy Glass story! Kept me intrigued with a few heart in mouth moments, the characters and voices really helped make this a wonderful listen.
