Summary
Fate wasn't supposed to have plans for me. I'm an outcast, a loner. The boy named for death who never quite started to live. But then, Poe came back - the girl I once kissed in a thorn-covered chapel in the woods.
She brought back memories long buried, and I could no more resist her than I could pry out my own heart. She brought up secrets and set rituals into motion. She brought me to the man who owns Thornchapel, Auden Guest. And then, she found the bones.
The only thing Auden and I can agree on is Proserpina Markham, and she wants us to find a way to be together - all three of us. But the past casts a long shadow. Eight years ago, I did something terrible to Auden. He hurt me back the only way he knew how. And so here we are. Our hatred seasoned with pain and my loneliness spiked with longing.
If Auden wants to earn her as his submissive, then he has to earn me, as well. That was the promise he made. But with the carnal revel of Beltane fast approaching, it's becoming clear that Thornchapel's secrets are much deeper and older than any of us could have ever guessed. They're making us complicit. And they will have a cost.
Because, no matter how bright and merry a feast of sparks may be, it's always followed by ashes. And darkness.
Feast of Sparks is book two in the Thornchapel series.

I was told I could listen to this book as a stand-alone. Although yes, I was able to still eventually figure out what was happening. I feel like it might have been helpful and less confusing if I had listened to the book prior to this one. Also feel like there was a lot I felt disconnected to being I don’t understand the full scope of some of the relationships.
That being said, this was still a crazy ride of a story and definitely want to go back and listen to book one and then the rest of the series.
Narrative was good!

Shivery with pleasure
Oh. My. God. What has just happened.
This book is one of the sexiest things I’ve ever read. But it’s also so much more. Sophisticated sensuality intertwined with magical rituals, old forests and mythical legends that merge with the contemporary so well that I just want to give Sierra Simone a ginormous squeeze for the incredible job she’s done.
Sierra Simone is a magician. This book is magical. I could say so much more but it has to be read to get all the feels.
Zachary Webber and Sara Ormenyi are fantastic and really brings the story to life.

Epic
This series just keeps getting better and this book was amazing. There is always an element of excitement and intrigue starting a new Sierra novel. So far she has always defied my expectations and I’m excited to continue reading her novels.

Yep... Dark and Dirty...
This book just took everything to the next level and I must admit there were a few chapters where I had an "O.M.G!!" moment.... But always in a good way!!
You know you've read a good book when you feel just as wronged as the character you were rooting for! I'm really looking forward to the next book to see how all this works out. At the moment my heart needs a minute to recover!
PS I really wasn't expecting what happened in chapter 15... That was a real "Didn't see that cummin" moment! ;)
Perfect narration... Though the word "arse" from a non Brit just sounds odd! LOL

better than book 1 but still so so
A lot more sexy times than in book 1 so that was good. Less Sara Ormenyi narrating so that was good. Just as boring as book 1 regarding all the Thornchapel ritual stuff. But the good relationship stuff was not worth all the bad everything else. it would be easier to skim with the book vs the audio. not sure if I want to continue or not.

I'm not a fan of the ending (as many reviews mention) as it's not my thing but you could figure out that was the direction the author was going and I can easily pretend it didn't happen.
