Summary

Proud and beautiful, Heaven came back to the hills - to rise at last above her family's shame!

As Logan's bride, she would savor now the love she had sought for so long. And free from her father's clutches, she would live again in her backwoods town as a respected teacher and cherished wife. But after a wedding trip to Boston's Farthinggale Manor and a lavish, elegant party, Heaven and Logan are persuaded to stay...lured by Tony Tatterton's guile to live amid the Tatterton wealth and privilege.

Then the ghosts of Heaven's past rise up once more, writhing around her fragile happiness...threatening her precious love with scandal and jealousy, sinister passions and dangerous dreams!

Great Book 3 in Casteel Group

Read these books 25 years ago and now listening to audio books. Great plot, read well. Just a shame the next 2 books aren't on audio!

Another Compelling V.C. Andrews Read

In the third instalment of the Casteel Family saga, Heaven is now married to her childhood sweetheart and living her dream life - but that is soon corrupted by both sides of her family as secrets, lies and scandals soon burst her short lived happiness.
Candace Thaxton gives another great narration of Heaven’s perspective. I was a bit surprised that the beginning of the book saw a rather passive side of her as she seemed to accept quite reluctantly but quickly the sudden changes occurring in her life. This however changed as Heaven soon began to take charge of the narrative again - the conflict between Heaven and Fanny and their fractured relationship as sisters, but also their conflicting feelings about the others lives was the most interesting storyline. I haven’t said this in either review of the prequels, but the love interests in this series are probably the most irritating and frustrating out of all of the Virginia Andrews books - both Logan and Troy have melodramatic and quite egotistical traits that made them exasperating compared to the rest of the cast. One of the drastic changes that I didn’t like was the dark shift in Tony’s character for the first half of the novel - his complete 180 made very little sense compared to how it was in the previous book, but I put this down to Heaven’s ridiculous blonde hair period which made any man who knew her dead mother associate her with Leigh and they literally lose their minds... yes, I was quite relived when Heaven had the common sense to dye her hair back. The tension between both Heaven’s vindictive sister and estranged and disturbed father comes to a head with all the remaining key players - in a way, this would’ve been a nice end of the series, but there are two more books in the series which I will no doubt read in the near future.

Just as strong as the previous books

I’m loving following Heaven through her life. Surely she deserves happiness soon. Hoping the next book offers the same quality

The worst narrator I’ve ever heard

I’ve read and reread these books so was really looking forward to hearing the audio books but my goodness could barely listen due to the awful voice of the narrator
