Summary
As if things aren’t already tough enough as the only girl on a college football team, Coach had to go and assign Zeke Collins as my roommate.
A cocky kick returner and my brother’s best friend who should have been ripped of that title years ago, he’s as infuriating as he is undeniably sexy.
I hate him, and for good reason—reason I won’t ever let him forget.
He thinks because we grew up together that it’s his role to protect me, but all he does is get in my way, make me look weak, and piss me off more.
I tell him I can handle myself, and I’m hell-bent on getting that point across to him and the rest of the nation watching the only girl in collegiate football.
The pressure doesn’t get to me. The scrutiny? I’m ready for.
But sharing very thin walls with Zeke Collins? I wasn’t prepared for that.
And the more we’re forced together, the harder it is to distinguish that pencil-thin line between hating him...and wanting him.

What an amazing listen!
There is so much goodness to this book! I absolutely fell in love with it! Kandi Steiner is an author that when I start a book, I know I am in for a treat. This new adult, sports, enemies to lover's romance touched my heart from the first chapter. Zeke and Riley have grown up together. Riley's twin brother and Zeke are best friends, but she has her reasons for hating him. Now in college, with Riley and Zeke on the football team, things are about to come to a head. What will become of these two? Now Steiner is a master of taking my heart, breaking it and putting it back together, and there are several instances in this book that she had my eyes welling up with tears and my heart full of love. Riley is a tough cookie. Being a girl on a football team, she deals with a lot. Zeke has taken it upon himself to be her protector, but I am not sure this feisty girl needs his help. Zeke has been through so much, carries so much on his shoulders and his love and loyalty is so pure, it's impossible not to fall for him. But I can definitely feel Riley's hesitancy and understand her thoughts. I love having her brother pop in once in a while and would love to get his story! This one is fabulous, and I highly recommend it.
Narrated by Hannah Chiclana and Chris Williams, we have the perfect blend of new adult voices. Chiclana becomes Riley, taking us through her life with all the feelings. She is spot on with each nuance and creates a wonderful character. Williams shines as Zeke. This is a protective alpha male, with so much emotion and he pulls out all the stops to make Zeke realistic. I loved his collaboration and hope to hear more from this team.

What an amazing story!
Kandi never fails to write stories that bring all the feels! The buildup between Zeke and Riley was palpable and brought out every feeling along the way. That whole thin line between love and hate made the chemistry between these two burn through your headphones. Kandi writing a young woman being part of a man's football team made the story just shine! I loved, loved, loved the concept of this book. I lived for every scene and could not get enough of listening to what everyone had to go through and the adrenaline that comes with playing each football game. Zeke was a powerhouse and had me just swooning over his possessiveness of Riley. Their history may have torn them apart, but it's what glued them together as well and it was so real and raw. Kandi never shies away from making your heart hurt with real life issues and it makes her books that much better! The narrators, Hannah Chiclana and Chris Williams stole the show! Their narrations were perfect and I loved every minute of listening to this audiobook!

A perfect enemies to lovers-sports romance
Fair Catch is the complete standalone enemies to lovers, brother’s best friend, forced proximity, sports romance story of Riley Novo and Zeke Collins.
Riley has known Zeke since they were kids and up until and accident which paralysed her twin brother Gavin and ended his promising football career she was infatuated with Zeke. However, since that fateful night she has treated him with nothing but disdain and playing on the same high school football team didn’t help the relationship. Fast forward to college and Riley is forced to spend more time with Zeke as not only are they teammates but also roommates.
Zeke is a truly misunderstood guy. The girl he’s had a crush on since he was a kid despises him and he can’t blame her, he was after all driving the vehicle that crashed and paralysed her twin brother and changed her life. Riley was a very accomplished soccer player until the accident when Gavin made her promise to take his place on the football team. When they both make the collegiate team and are forced to share a dorm, Zeke eventually manages to start breaking down her walls to form a friendship with her and the desire and sexual tension builds until they both finally give in to their feelings. Ummm hello super sexy shower steamy times.
This audiobook is narrated by Hannah Chiclana and new to me narrator Chris Williams. Hannah’s portrayal of the only female football player was superb. She conveyed the internal battle Riley had about Zeke perfectly. Chris’ performance was fantastic. He perfectly captured Zeke’s regret, his need for forgiveness and his wants, needs and desires. I loved this pairing and I’m looking forward to more from them.
I really loved this audiobook, it had all the tropes I love, a kickass heroine who takes on a predominantly male sport and f**king rocks at it, a hero with demons he must overcome, undeniable chemistry and plenty of banter with a side of angst, emotion, and a whole lot of steam!
I hope Kandi brings us Gavin’s story in the future, I loved the glimpses we got of him.

Fair Catch
I can tell you - I'm a Riley and Zeke fan.
Although I wanted to read more of their story, how their relationship develops, what happens in future,... I really enjoyed the whole story.
From enemies to lovers.
A lot of sexy athletes.
Great and strong friendships.
The twin thing.
You won't be disappointed with that story!
And after reading the book, the narration makes it even better!

Just what I needed!
Fair Catch is a well-written and perfectly narrated romance. I love how Riley and Zig are human; flawed. I love how they interact, make me laugh and get all hot from the spicy scenes.
Kandi Steiner did it again. Great romance. Perfect summer-read☀️

A great start to an incredible series
This story is very much about acceptance, accepting the past and that you cant change it, accepting what you want to do and who you want to be with.
Although I enjoy Zeke and Riley in this book and the journey they go on, I LOVE them in later books - how strong their relationship is, how much they've grown individually and together
- brothers best friend
- forced proximity (roommates and teammates)
- hidden relationship
- college football

Gorgeous and poignant- all the feels
I actually read the ebook first but had to listen to this audiobook too because I loved the story so much.
First the story: This is a new adult enemies to lovers romance that was absolutely wonderful. Riley and Zeke were great- I absolutely loved the idea that Riley was a female football star (kicker) who hated Zeke because of she blamed him for her brother’s paralysis. The premise was realistic, beautifully characterized and age appropriate. It drew me into the story. As a reader who tends to now shy away from new adult romances (the characters are in their freshman year of college which feels really far away from my real life!), I have to say that the characters are so nuanced and the situations feel so appropriate and well fleshed out that I truly enjoyed this story. I look forward to the stories for the other characters in this world! Another win for Kandi Steiner!
Now, for the narration- it was good. I loved Hannah Chiclana and Chris Williams' voices because they really fit the roles. They sounded young and perfectly cast. Chris Williams was a little staccato and a little rigid, in my opinion but overall, their voices and reading drew me into the story,

Emotional!
I like Kandi Steiner's writing. This is a sweet and emotional enemies-to-lovers, brother’s best friend, and sports romance. Zeke and Riley's story is beautifully written. Riley, the only girl in the college football team, is an amazing character, strong, independent, and determined. Zeke, also a team member, is handsome, tormented, and a great man, supportive, and caring. They are so perfect together. Their story is filled with drama. I loved Gavin (Riley's twin brother and Zeke's best friend) and I would love to have his story. This is an excellent New Adult Romance. Hannah Chiclana and Chris Williams did a good job with the narration.
