Super Impressive!

A very brave book which needed to be written. I'm also a psychiatric nurse who has become frustrated with the medical model approach to mental health. Kathleen has taken her clinical knowledge and her vast experience in clinical practice to put together this succinct, well-written and well-spoken book, looking at the causes, the solutions and the steps to help you get there.

This book points out the failings of the medical system when it comes to mental health and why many of the 'solutions' to our mental health problems do not work.

It covers the basics which are often not approached by health care providers, getting to what may be the 'root cause' of mental health issues.

The approach is holistic, bringing in the mind/body, gut/brain connections and how our lifestyle may be negatively impacting our mental resilience.

The language used is simple and has some great analogies to help you understand what she is describing.

I suggest you listen to the whole thing first and then re-listen to really understand how everything fits together and would highly recommend this to health practitioners, carers and people who experience issues with their own mental health.
