H. P. Lovecraft
About this listen
Following the phenomenal success of Necronomicon, its companion volume brings together Lovecraft's remaining major stories plus his weird poetry, a number of obscure revisions, and some notable nonfiction, including the seminal critical essay "Supernatural Horror in Literature."
Gathering together in chronological order the rest of Lovecraft's rarely seen but extraordinary short fiction, this collection includes the entirety of the long-out-of-print collection of thirty-six sonnets "Fungi from Yuggoth."
Lovecraft died at the age of forty-seven, but in his short life he turned out dozens of stories that changed the face of horror. His extraordinary imagination spawned both the Elder God Cthulhu and his eldritch cohorts, as well as the strangely compelling town of Innsmouth, all of which feature here.

A Good Companion Piece To The "Necronomicon".
This second volume of H.P Lovecraft works, consists mainly of non Cthulhu and lesser known
stories and poems. However, this is not to say the pieces are of no worth! Whilst it is true to say this volume is a bit of a curates egg, there are some tasty morsels to be found here. None more so then Lovecraft's classic essay on weird fiction, "Supernatural Horror In Literature" (1927).
The one negative about this collection and the previous "Necronomicon: is that neither of them includes Lovecraft's classic tale "At The Mountains Of Madness" (written in 1931,published 1936).

Great stuff
As the second part of the Necronomicon book I was expecting the last of Lovecraft stories to be included but At the Mountains of Madness is missing and I'm sure still more are missing.

definer of cosmic horror
There's a reason Lovecraft is known as one of the definers of cosmic horror, and this is a pretty comprehensive collection of his stories and poems, and well read by all the narrators, though i preferred some to others. My favourite story is The Alchemist. I also liked The Terrible Old Man.

A fantastic, fantastically varied collection
Necronomicon (ISBN 1483013499) contains the stories he is most famous for, but Eldritch Tales is a fantastic collection in its own right and absolutely worth reading. As the many odds and ends of his writing career, there is much greater variety in style and structure and the stories are enjoyable in their own right as well. Whilst the quality varies more than in Necronomicon, this substantive collection is well worth listening to in its own right.

Stick with the Necronomicon
Almost all the stories were rather uninteresting to follow, often found my mind wandering off instead of listening to what's happening. I suggest if you haven't, only pick up the necronomicon that holds a lot of lovecraft's actual really good work and then also pick up the shadow over insmouth and mountain of madness. I like lovecraft's universe a lot but most of the the stories in this collection are a lot weaker then anything else I've read or listened to, even the fan story collection lovecraft's monsters" features far more entertaining material to listen.

No book or chapter titles - just chapter 1, 2,3...
Really enjoyable and varied narration of an incredible work of imagination. Let down by the lack of title info on the books included.
