Summary

Ashley is a young single mum raising her daughter, Eden, and working hard to do the very best job she can - until one night she can't find a babysitter and makes the decision to leave Eden home alone for a couple of hours, asleep inside a wardrobe. It is an action that begins a terrible downward spiral for both of them.

When Eden arrives at experienced foster carer Louise Allen's home, she has entered the care system because her mother is in prison. Eden is five years old and will not speak to any human. She begins exhibiting some other disturbing behaviours alongside the mutism, too, including torturing the family pets she loves. This eventually leads Louise to discover the pain and tragic reality behind Eden's Story.

book three Eden

this is the 3rd book in the series I have read they are all fantastic and I love Louise's attitude and sometimes scathing depiction of social services workers and the entourage. my one and only slight criticism would be the accents especially when it's the young mothers . I also love the words used that I haven't heard before and pause to find out it's meaning I love words I am going to download the last one in the series to. start tomorrow. thank you for wonderful writing and narration of the most part

Worth listening to

The book is beautifully written and narratived. I love that you get the background before foster care and how she's doing after foster care

Fabulous

I love all of Louise’s books I’ve not listened to a bad one yet. I love even though she touches on heartbreaking stories she still manages a bit of humour.

Slightly disjointed

This story is in 2 halves-1 about the child’s younger years with the birth family and the 2nd about the foster family. I felt the first half stopped abruptly and it was like reading a completely different book for the second half. The story is ok but not one that I’d reread or recommend. Audiobook is read well. I found playing it at 1.2 speed was best.
