About this listen
Reeling from the conflict with the dwarves, Ken and several Haylon classes move to an event on the 28th floor of a dead branch of the dungeon to prepare for the raid.
While he’s busy training, his grandparents give him his first mission to assess and carry out on his own. Between Ken’s time of scouting out and investigating his target, he runs in with the other three schools and learns he’s not the only ace damage dealer. Pendulum, Trusk and the Royal Academy all have a student that’s a head above the rest of their peers.
The pressure is on, especially when one of them is associated with Ken’s latest assassination target.

Good, but more filler then story
I really enjoyed this book, but i felt this one was more filler, and setting itself up for the next book.
Bruce is very good at writing, and is one of the best at writing characters i truly hate. Sometimes characters die in his series and i feel bad for, but some i want dead right away 😂
Either way, i highly enjoyed this book.

my review
overall it was a great book to listen to. if im honest it seemed more of a build up to the next book since they have the prince bet to get to. honestly it was a nice listen and a good build up for me wanting to know what will happen with the prince and his family after Ken beats him in the raid in the next one. I was a little bummed we barely saw any of harley since she was the funny and energetic one of the group. thanks for the listen.

Fun
Very fun and easy listen, can’t wait for the next book , all the characters are distinct and have a great level of growth

One of the best yet
My only issue is one regarding the ending being rather rapid, with a feeling of drop off. This isn’t to say this isn’t a good thing , as it’s a definite needing to follow up with the next.
The characters are progressively being built up and are engaging for a listener with a hope for potential future entries and engagement, the wider world feels properly built up after each entry with pretty solid progression and actually good story telling( the world is now expanding into a next-phase era).
So the next entry should be something pretty stellar and will lead to further down the line .

great narration but slow story
the story continues to be pretty solid overall, but this one felt like filler overall. a lot of leaning into the anime style of the story and comedy elements. the majority arc plot feels slow and the MCs initial harem potentials don't seem developed that much (his wider class).
the author may be trying to subvert expectations by throwing in new girls from other areas, but this one seems to be setting up a new arc and new annoyances. the MC is still overpowered but also seems to be a bit dumb in how he tackles missions. as an assassin he toys with his targets and ends up in brawls which feels weird.
overall, Bruce is still a great author but this one feels like a bridging book. the narrators do a great job and bring it to life well.
