About this listen
From the producers of the Maze Runner trilogy comes this fictional oral history of the appearance of dragons on earth, starring Hayley Atwell (Mission Impossible), Michael Chiklis (Fantastic Four, The Shield), Aldis Hodge (Justice League), Greta Lee (Russian Doll, Past Lives), Jimmi Simpson (Dark Matter, Westworld), and a full cast. A riveting listen perfect for fans of World War Z and Sleeping Giants.
Compiled by intrepid journalist Neve Pride, this archive of recordings spans the months after dragons emerged on earth, chronicling the communities that sprang up amid the destruction, the scientists, military leaders, and experts searching for a defense, and those steadfastly seeking the missing. Neve and her young daughter Bex travel among the wreckage speaking to those left behind and surviving, against all odds. Neve records everything for history, and in the hopes of locating a clue as to where the dragons came from and how one might stop them. When the defense strategy hits on a breakthrough at the same time Neve receives a lead regarding her missing son, she finds herself torn between what is personal to her and what is necessary for mankind’s survival: hope.
Full cast of narrators include: Richard Tatum, Chioke I’Anson, Gail Shalan, Rez Kempton, Judy Gold, Piper Goodeve, Gregory Connors.

Very structured
While concept is quite interesting. Story itself is very structured and kinda predictable due to various stories taking the same path. VA was great, but doesn't change the lack of more dragon focused lines. If dragons were changed to superior enemy aircraft the story still would stay almost the same.

A terrible immitation of wwz
This book desperately tries to be World War Z, but with dragons. Sadly it doesnt copy the one big narrative device out of world war z. The interviewer is far to present.

Not as action packed as I thought it would be but still a good listen.
This is a collection of interview recordings that tells the story of the emergence of dragons in present day Earth and how humanity is nearly wiped out by their onset invasion.
Very surprised that Audible just dropped this without any hype or advertising, however the lack of direct storytelling and its reliance solely on the voice actors to carry the story in a disjointed compilation will explain why. Like DayZ, this is a documentary style story, not a radio play in the movie in your mind type of way.
This would earn five stars if the story arcs had more of a satisfying ending to everyone involved, and also recordings of the actual dragon attacks and battles and reports in the field.
Nevertheless this was a surprise treat that came tree with my audible membership when it dropped.
I am hoping one day Audible comes together to create more creature features like novel accurate radio adaptations of Jurassic Park and Lost World by Michael Crichton. More full cast audio adaptations of any creature features like they did with the Alien novel series would be amazing.
8/10 Post Apocalyptic Radio Mockumentary with Dragons.

Great performances, story is lacking
As another reviewer has said, what made WWZ great was you only heard the voices of those impacted by the zombies. In this, we get way too much of the journalist, she is disbelieving and downright rude towards some of her sources and sadly this ruined the story for me. All the voice actors were excellent and if the journalist had been more passive or better yet not heard, this could have been great, but sadly her story got in the way for me and I couldn’t finish. This is more like WWZ the movie than the book I’m afraid.
