Summary

He holds the peasants of the Transylvania countryside in his thrall, but it is not enough.

Count Dracula, the centuries-old legendary vampire and former soldier-nobleman, wishes to extend his horrific cult of Undead followers to England. Innocent British realtor Jonathan Harker visits the Count with the intention of transacting the purchase of a house in London.

And thus begins the epic tale by Bram Stoker in which the evil Dracula conquers one individual at a time as he mysteriously stalks the loved ones of Harker's small circle of family and friends. But perseverance and love are powerful forces that go to war with the Count.

Veteran voice actor David Gilmore narrates the original unabridged Stoker manuscript. Developing each character with spellbinding intensity, from the insane asylum patient Renfield, to the scientists Van Helsing and Seward, to the innocent victims Lucy and Mina, to Count Dracula himself, Gilmore brings both the living and the Undead to startling clarity in this classic saga.

poor narration

poor choice of narrator , an American trying to do justice to this book with his appalling accents just ruins this classic , his van helsing voice is like Steven hawking on crack , his local yokel accents are hilarious, makes dick van dykes cockney accent worthy of an oscar.

Classical story

The narrator was fine until he was talking for the locals and they are all Irish!!!, shouldn’t they be English. It spoiled parts of the story for me.

Worst narration ever. Don’t buy this!

The American narrator of this version is dreadful. It loses authenticity by having the book read in an American accent but much worse when he tries to do regional British accents it is so bad it is comical. Apparently both Yorkshire and Cockney accents are the same as Irish. The female voices are simpering and the Dutch doctor Van Helsing sounds German. All very off-putting. I tried to give zero stars to performance but Audible wouldn’t let me.
