Summary
In Dimensions, Dr. Jacques Vallee reexamines the historical record that led to the modern UFO phenomenon and to the belief in alien contact. He then tackles the enigma of abduction reports, which come from various times and various countries, as well as the psychic and spiritual components of the contact experience. In the last portion of the book, he notes the factors that inhibit research into the phenomenon - the triple coverup and political motivations - and concludes that the extraterrestrial theory is simply not strange enough to explain the facts.

Nonsense
Regardless of any truth in reports of abductions, this book is utter nonsense, religious claptrap, Jack, shame on you. Jack's premis? it cannot be aliens due to the historical duration of UFOs visitations.... yeah, cos it can't be an ongoing project for that long, sure, or a time dilated act? why not? Cos jack says so..... why use reported data when 'god' will do. what a waste of time.

brilliant book on a garbage platform
book is a refreshing well thought out study of the phenomenon, years of work & study gone into this with reports & events from ages past.
Pity adible only does the first of three books though... wtf!
Audible is getting worse & worse!

OUTDATED
This audiobook contains a lot of nonsense. Now in 2023 we have more data. Especially after the 2017 Pentagon release of the videos. I can't help but feel jacques views are now outdated. A new consciousness is being born and I for one look at it with very different eyes.

Repetitive
Just banging out old reports of sightings with very little meat and potatoes. Sent me to sleep within 15 minutes though, so it was good for that.

Interesting, but so much data to listen through
Vallee spends a lot of time presenting data, various sightings and encounters through history that are useful but… overwhelming. The vast majority of the book is going from one event straight to another, it’s effectively a (large) collection of short stories, I found myself often just not listening/losing focus, as each event just merges into the next.
I really struggled to maintain momentum, as there’s so much data with so little conclusion, I spent a long time hoping he’d suggest theories as it went along, but his theory actually comes within the last few minutes of the book.
Unless you are someone with an intense interest in the actual events rather than the conclusion/possible explanations, you could very easily skip to the final chapter without missing out on much.
Vallee is evidently incredibly intelligent, and his theory is genuinely compelling. I just don’t think this presentation is the best way of holding attention and communicating his thoughts.
Comfortable to listen to at 2.0x speed.

I'm currently a few hours in
So I'm currently a few hours in. It is monotonous and repetitive. Anyone that has researched this subject will know that UAP exist and their crew have been around this earth for centuries. Yes we get that. However, this just mashes out story after story of encounters. No nuts and bolts, no real discussion on the subject. I will give it a couple more hours then if still no good will return it. Disappointing.
