Summary
Just when Hamish most needs him - the dentist turns up dead...
In Scotland, where thrift and a 'nice set of dentures' are generally admired, dental surgeon Dr Frederick Gilchrist's cheap rates and penchant for pulling teeth have gained him a clientele. However, wiser Highlanders (like Hamish Macbeth) opt to steer clear of this reputed womanizer's all-too-busy hands.
Only jaw-throbbing agony drives Hamish to Gilchrist's surgery, but what he finds is the dentist's dead body - putting several angry husbands in the frame for murder...
Critic reviews

The plot operates on so many levels
The murderers always die before they come to court and die by thier own hand .The custody officers seem very slack

Another instantly absorbing mystery….
Can’t help but love Hamish and assembled cast. Brought once more to life by David far better than Me Carlisle.

Fabulous!
I adore this series of books. The narration is perfect and the story was very enjoyable. Lots of twists and turns with no obvious culprit

Entertaining
Enjoyed this, but I like all the books with Hamish Mc Beth as the star, no violence but intriguing all the same. Read beautiful by David Monteath, they always manage to have a twist for Hamish to resolve and this one is no different

Fun yarn if u can ignore the political agenda here
These are fun stories so long as you can ignore the trite Daily Mail view of the world that this author obviously supports (ie all people on benefits choose to be so and are better off on benefits than they would be if working) which she introduces for no reason or benefit into her writing...shows the mistake of any author introducing such partisan views into what should be simple fun detective yarns..

Not her best
I am reading through the entire series, and this is the first one that I didn’t enjoy very much. It was as if the author was struggling for a story. So many names to remember and who they were. David Monteith, brilliant as ever. The next one is the Highland Christmas, which I’m looking forward to reading.
