Summary
Monsters, gods, and mayhem....
Police Chief Delaney Reed can handle the Valkyries, werewolves, gill-men and other paranormal creatures who call the small beach town of Ordinary, Oregon their home. It’s the vacationing gods who keep her up at night.
With the famous rhubarb festival right around the corner, small-town tensions, tempers, and godly tantrums are at an all-time high. The last thing Delaney needs is her ex-boyfriend reappearing just when she's finally caught the attention of Ryder Bailey, the one man she should never love.
No, scratch that. The actual last thing she needs is a dead body washing ashore, especially since the dead body is a god.
Catching a murderer, wrestling a god power, and re-scheduling the apocalypse? Just another day on the job in Ordinary. Falling in love with her childhood friend while trying to keep the secrets of her town secret? That’s gonna take some work.
Performed by Colleen Delany, Henry Kramer, Amanda Forstrom, Karen Novack, Nick DePinto, Matthew Bassett, Terence Aselford, Richard Rohan, Jason B McIntosh, Holly Vagley, Lolita Horne, Michael Glenn, Chris Genebach, Jessica Lauren Ball, Faith Potts, David Jourdan, Kimberly Gilbert, Michael John Casey, Joy Jones, Scott McCormick, Tony Nam, Eleanor Todd, Jonathon Church, Ken Jackson, Lise Bruneau, Zeke Alton, Chris Stinson, Elizabeth Jernigan, Bradley Smith.

Enjoyable and Fun
The idea for a vacation village for Gods was interesting, but otherwise, the book didn't offer something unexpected. I believe I liked it because of Graphic Audio performances.

In the land of gods and monsters I was a penguin
Monk has a fun writing style. I liked a lot of her characters (though there were a lot so some felt one dimensional or throw away) and the world was a fascinating one however there were so many different plots happening all at once that many felt lost or under-developed. Here is a spoiler-free list of all the plots I can remember:
- gods on holiday
- monsters not getting on
- murder mystery
- rhubarb festival
- returning ex lover
- returning crush
- dead dad
- missing penguin statue
It’s a lot.

Full cast fun
I admit to being wary of this audio book. I only discovered the author Devon Monk in an anthology Dirty Deeds and was sufficiently intrigued by the premise of Ordinary to hunt down the series. I hadn't came across GraphicAudio before but the cast were amazing, giving great performances, well acted and engaging. I wasn't sure about the music but once you embrace the concept that it's a 'movie in the mind ', this is great fun with the sound effects adding to the experience. I like the concept of a town where gods of varying religions can vacation, laying down their powers to become mortal for a while . I likethe concept of the sisters being law enforcement / guardians. just a pity that the main character's brain turns to mush every so often especially in respect to the potential love interest.

A Good Plot to this Urban Fantasy.
This is a good audiobook.
The story showcases the inhabitants and town of Ordinary. Was the mystery solved? Not completely.
I don't usually listen to full-cast graphic audiobooks. I find the studio sounds of doors closing, character steps, etc., rather distracting instead of immersive. However, I did enjoy the plot.
I will listen to the next book, but not as a graphic audio.

Background Music Irritates
I’ve read these books and thoroughly enjoyed them, so was looking forward to the audio version.
The narration was great, but the constant background noise, in particular the music was just so annoying. It added nothing and was like someone playing lift music whilst you tried to hear the book.
Totally unnecessary and put me off finishing item

Better to read this one much more superior version
Why ooh why can't they just read story. This series is one of my favourites. However this audio version just does not work for me. Its horrendous and poorly done. Voices scratchy and load over acting much. Music!!!! WTF. Who needs music to listen to a story. What mad fool thought putting this story in such an annoying excruciating form would work. Please please read this book and don't buy this audible version. Maybe some good soul could replace this graphic version with real audible version that I've now seen available in aubidle please.
