Summary
Violence is escalating, and spilling onto the streets of Montreal. A nine-year-old girl is killed in crossfire on her way to ballet class. The body of a teenager killed in North Carolina is found hundreds of miles away. Forensic anthropologist Dr Temperance Brennan has to pick up the pieces: she knows she shouldn't let emotion get in the way, but when nine-year-old Emily's body is wheeled into the morgue she cannot help but react. An exhumation uncovers the bones of another innocent in a clandestine grave close to a biker gang headquarters. Bones??
I'm guilty of assuming that the book and the tv program were the same. So I was disappointed, my fault entirely. I'll just have to wait a while and reread remembering the book is not the tv program and visa versa. I'm not saying don't read these books but remember they're not the tv series.

Brennan at her best
Once again Kathy Reichs delivers a gritty story with all the tension and excitement of an action thriller. Would a forensic anthropologist get so involved? Probably not. But Tempe's search for the truth ensures she takes a roller coaster ride in the real world of guns and bikers.

Predictable
I love anything narrated by Lorelei King so her performance was as ever excellent. The story however not so much. Not a lot seemed to really happen and what did, I found to be predicable and not very exciting. I found myself shouting at Tempe in an attempt to stop her being both introspective and extremely stupid. I also was very disinterested in the detailed descriptions of everything she chose to eat, drink and cook and thought her nephew a spoilt brat. I'm not sure I'll be listening to any more of these.

I love Kathy Reiches and am rereading the series. An excellent narration of the story to show the drama.

Can't go wrong with this author.
It's Kathy Reichs, so you can't really go wrong with this author, adding in one of the best narrators and this makes for a good story.

An excellent second book
An excellent second book in the Temperance Brennon series, very well performed. A brilliant listen for all crime fans, full of drama, suspense and bikers!

Too much foreboding!
Perhaps I've had enough doom and gloom during Covid pandemic and that accounts for my distaste of constant foreboding. So, not for me, sadly.

I do like Kathy Reich's books
I've been a late reader to Kathy Reich's, and all I can say the first three I listened/read have been brilliantly plotted.plus I do like the narrator on this book..again ..it's a more complex book and you do need to focus on the plot more and kit was just a pain the arse and totally not needed. but still brilliant.just starting fatal voyage....

Brennan finds herself digging in a bikers back yard. her nephew Kit is in town but not well ng the whole story. and Andrew Ryan has gone completely off the rails

Page turner
Great reading of this pacey story keeps you listening. The upbeat outlook of the first person heroine and the quick fire science keeps the dark content from getting too miserable. Recommended.
