Summary

The best spy story..

Would you consider the audio edition of Dame, König, As, Spion to be better than the print version?

Yes, at least as good. Audio Version brings it to life.

What other book might you compare Dame, König, As, Spion to, and why?

It is the first and best of the Karla trilogy. Probably Le Carres best book. Fab characterisation.

What does Rainer-Maria Ehrhardt bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

I have read the book (in English) many, many times, it is probably my all time favourite book. But I felt more involved in this audio version somehow.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I always do have an emotional reaction to this book. I know it so well, it is an old friend and I follow the plot twists anew each time I read it. Hearing it in German for the first time was interesting. Definitely like this Version.

Any additional comments?

Brilliant book, translation was faithful as far as I can tell.(unsurprisingly as the author worked undercover in Germany for a few years) Loved it.
