Summary
Being a highly skilled operative for a company like Jameson Force Security is exhilarating and important work...until it comes time to date. I like to keep my profession under wraps for a number of reasons. Some of what we do is top secret, most of what we do is dangerous, and more than one woman has tried to latch onto me because she was more enamored with what I do than who Cage Murdock really is. And since I’m more of a "here for the night" than a "here for forever" kind of guy, what’s the harm in a little white lie about my job?
My harmless deceit has never failed me. Until now. Because I met the most amazing woman and did the unthinkable. I married her. And now my beautiful, unsuspecting, probably-going-to-leave-my-sorry-behind-when-she-finds-out-the-truth wife doesn’t know that I’m not a used car salesman like I told her when we met.
As it typically does with lies, the truth is about to come out in a big way when Jaime unwittingly gets herself mixed up with some unsavory characters and I, along with the team at Jameson, have to intervene. Now I need to save my girl and hope I can save my marriage too. Let’s just say I have some serious explaining to do.

Great listen
I love Jamie and Cages story. You can’t help but root for them. They meet in a bar and unfortunately their relationship starts as a one night stand but they both start to want more the problem is Cage started the relationship with a lie, and now has to find a way to tell Jamie and he waits a little to long. This was one of my favorites and you get to see some of the friends from other books. Sawyer Bennett does not disappoint with her wonderful character and storytelling. I can’t wait for her next book. Narration was great and I loved John Lane and Emma Wilder

My favorite book in the series, so far!
This Jameson Force Security is one of my favorite series from Sawyer Bennett. This series is always high suspense, high action, and so much heat. I can't get enough and Cage, well Cage is a serious commitment phobe but he's sweet and caring. He might have stretched the truth a bit about his slightly dangerous career... ok, he totally lied. Apparently, he thinks a boring, mundane job would attract a woman for a one-night stand more than his exciting, occasionally dangerous career. But him and Jaime have a connection and want more than just one night. Jaime is a stickler for honestly after her ex lied. The betrayal was a kick to the gut and really stuck with Jaime. Let's just see how she handles lies from her newest husband, one she barely knows.
I really enjoyed how this book had the same timeline as Ghosts. I felt like I had bit more info when going into Rook. I really enjoyed these characters. Both Jaime and Cage were fun. Rook was just one of those books, it was just a quick listen. It had a ton of suspense and romance, one of my favorites so far from the entire series! The narration by John Lane and Emma Wilder was just great. They really transport you right into the story! They really went above and beyond for this story!

Don't get rooked!
I'm glad I took a while to get to this one, rather than listening to it right after the last one, because the beginning overlaps a lot. I did recall some moments, but because I had forgotten nearly all from before, it didn't feel too repetitive.
They were just.. cute. They met, they clicked, that was it. Well, there is that lie between them, and then drama escalates the situation. Fun, hot, shortlived.
The audiobook was good, though sometimes accents felt like they slipped or merged a touch.

Rook...the perfect title!
When we got a glimpse of Cage and Jaime in Ghost, I knew this was a couple I wanted to know more about, and boy what a story they have! Meant to be a one night stand, these two had instant chemistry. Their need to be together became dating, despite Jaime's trust issues and Cage's no relationship rules. But now, after a quick business/pleasure trip to Vegas they are married and there is a huge secret Cage didn't disclose. Will it be a deal breaker when Jaime find out? Sawyer Bennett is one of my favorites, always pulling me into the lives of her characters and investing my heart. At the same time, she gives a fantastic story, with suspenseful plots and incredible secondary characters. I loved Jaime's family. From her over protective father and her loving mother, to her knucklehead brother. They brought a realistic feel to Jaime's life and gave us a view of what her upbringing was like. Cage proved to be quite the man, never giving up, finding the little niche to get under and worm his way into Jaime's heart. We also get to see all our friends we have made with Jameson Force Security. It's always fun to be able to check in with people like Kynan and Anna, bringing us that family feel. Another fun and exciting listen.
John Lane nails the narration for Cage. A slight twang, a cockiness and a vulnerability all so easily believable brings this character to life. He understood his character and made him real. Emma Wilder, always the consummate performer becomes Jaime, letting us feel her fall in love and feel the deception. She is amazing at bringing out all the emotions. This is a perfect cast for this story.

Awesome Story & Narration 🎧 Engrossing & Heartfelt
Sawyer Bennett pens another awesome novel in her “Jameson Force Security” series. I am loving the characters and their stories in this amazing series. This book is Cage Murdock and Jaime Dolan’s story, their story grabbed my attention right from the start and held it straight to the end. I was completely engrossed by this story, so much I listened to it non-stop, wanting or rather needing to know what happened next. I adored both lead characters, they are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with. Cage just finished a rescue mission with his team at JFS, he needed to unwind and knew the perfect way to do that, find someone to spend the night with. He heads out to the local bar and it does not take him long to find that someone and she winds up finding him. Jaime is out with friends when she spots Cage after a brief eye contact she approached him. The two hit is off and they have a steamy night together. Sage does not do relationships and rarely has more than a one night stand so he does not share what his real job is with Jaime, he tells her he is a car salesman. There is something about Jaime that has him wanting to see her again and he gets stuck with that lie, he knows she has trust issues and is not sure how she is going to handle that he was not exactly truthful. I loved how everything plays out in this book, the story is cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, some angst, a surprising plot twist that causes thrilling and suspenseful moments in addition to heartfelt and emotional moments and some hot romance. Sawyer Bennett, thats you for another awesome story and emotional rollercoaster ride. It was great to see the Jameson crew again, Jaime’s family was awesome too, loved how tight knit and supportive they were of her.
🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, John Lane and Emma Wilder are the perfect cast to bring these characters and their story to life. They do an awesome job portraying the characters, giving each their own unique voice and grasping their persona making the role their own. They sounded just as I pictured the characters to sound, John Lane was the perfect Cage and Emma Wilder the perfect. You could hear how much heart they put into their work as they capture the characters emotions and project them into their performance. They are entertaining storytellers and versatile voice artists who are a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this awesome listen🎧

Sweet and hot, with a dash of suspense
CODE NAME: ROOK. Finally, more intel on Cage Murdock’s impromptu-wedding in Vegas, ha! But not only that, we also learn what damage one little seemingly harmless white lie can do. I loved how it bit him in the butt and that his new wife made him stew over that – if only to drive the point home.
With Jaime Dolan and Cage Murdock this series received one more power-couple. A strong yet sweet alpha male with a troubled past that keeps him from opening up to his teammates and people in general and his compassionate and inquisitive woman with her own bad history where men are concerned. Guilt and grief, mistrust and hurt … A dangerous combination, yet if combined with heat, sweetness and laughter, it might just transform into something beautiful: trust and love.
Sadly, I’m not a fan of insta-everything – in this case an insta-wedding within merely six weeks of knowing one another – which took away from my enjoying the story. The timeline just fell off and didn’t fit in with the set-up of previous stories at all. But that could be just a me-thing.
As for the narration: I don’t think I has previously listened to John Lane, which is a real pity. His growly voice with a hint of vulnerability and loads of cockiness was perfect for Cage. Jaime was voiced by Emma Wilder, who did a stellar job transporting all of her character’s emotions in her voice. Her voice for Cage was also very yummy. I loved it!

Good but!
Whilst I love Sawyer Bennett’s books most of the time this one got me a little irritated at times. More specifically Jamie irritated me. She had a lovely, sweet, loving, respectful relationship with Cage but still she dug her heels in when he made a mistake refusing to talk to him. Frankly I expected more from a counsellor who deals with domestic violence. Then as if by magic she up and forgives him. All the angst in the middle could have been saved by listening. The fact that she was more angry at Cage for telling a white lie than she was with her brother who was responsible for her kidnapping baffled my mind. Unfortunately I couldn’t get past it and it made me dislike her character. Cage on the other hand I loved. He was kind and courageous and sweet and loving. He loved Jamie and never shied away from showing her that. As for the narration I loved it. It bought the story to life.

3 stars
I was actually looking forward to Jaime and Cage's book after getting a glimpse from the last installment. I just didn't like the timeline of in the beginning to how they met and gotten married (which I'm not a fan of rushed wedding ie 6 weeks from meeting someone (added with the lies from Cage)) and obviously to the hea ending. It just didn't fit well with how the other books are placed in the series I guess. I just think the resolve of the climatic event was too fast or rushed.
Narrators John Lane and Emma Wilder did a great job.
