Do you want a really well-behaved school class? Are you fed up with students who talk over you and ignore instructions? If you want to learn the keys to success as a teacher, then here, you can find all the tips and secrets to succeed.
The underlying classroom management themes of accountability, maturity, independence, personal responsibility, and intrinsic motivation are all there and weave their way throughout the entirety of the book. Together, they form a simple, unique, and sometimes contrarian approach to classroom management that anyone can do.
Whether you're an elementary, middle, or high school teacher, this book will give you the strategies, skills, and know-how to turn any group of students into the motivated, well-behaved class you love teaching. It will make you reflect on your classroom management skills and competencies by exposing you to the various traits that make the class difficult to manage.
The book takes time to discuss the issue of the personality of the teacher. When you listen to it, you should be able to see some of the attributes in your personality that affect your classroom management abilities. You'll find out how to set the pace from the first day at school. The aim is to ensure that the teacher is able to hit the ground running from the very first minute he/she meets the students.
The book also explains why the first days of encountering learners are vital and give the ways that you can make the first impression that will last. The aim of the book is for a teacher to understand that he/she is an influence. You have to learn how to maximize your influence for the purpose of helping learners actualize the best that is in them.
From how to set up an easy-to-use classroom management plan to how to handle difficult students, this book will equip you with everything you need to effectively manage your classroom, regardless of where you teach or who shows up on your roster. Teaching is made easier when you have a fast-acting classroom management system that works.
The book provides teachers with a framework of fundamental preventive techniques and details a process for successfully teaching and responding to students who have difficulty following instructions. If you’re a teacher facing hard-to-reach, tough groups of students who talk over you and won’t do as you ask, the ideas in this book will help you put in place a simple system for gaining respect, building positive teacher-student bonds, dealing with incidents, and creating a calm, responsive classroom.
This book provides hundreds of practical ideas and interventions to end your classroom management struggles and create a thoroughly enjoyable lesson climate for all concerned.
By the end of the book, you'll have the knowledge to free your classroom of misbehavior and disrespect, build an easy rapport with your students, and teach with a spirit of joy and passion that you've always longed for. You will be able to build meaningful classroom interactions with the learners. It will ensure your class is safe for learning and has the ideal conditioning culture that manages students of all kinds. Very little content, appalling delivery
The book is largely common sense with few specific strategies. The writing style is stuffy and antiquated (if you read all the positive reviews below, they are also written in this strange style (coincidence?)). It feels like it is written by a non English speaker. The narration is terrible. If I spoke like this in a class with wired ... pauses, often mid ... sentence, I would be torn to shreds. It sounds like it has been narrated by a robot. It’s pretty damned bad:
