Summary

New Orleans is a hot mess.

Ancient feuds. Demonic forces bent on destruction. Oh, and apparently vampires are real.

Della didn't sign up for any of this. She didn't sign up for violence and mayhem in the streets of the Big Easy. She didn't sign up to be a magnet for an evil force intent on hunting down the reincarnated souls of its enemies. She sure as hell didn't sign up for rescue by a sinfully tempting vampire lord and his fashion-model-gorgeous friends. Especially since he seems convinced that she's the living embodiment of his long lost human mate.

Seriously, this kind of stuff isn't supposed to happen to insurance company receptionists from New Jersey. The world is descending into chaos. Now, a coven of hypnotically alluring bloodsuckers is trying to convince her they're the good guys. And the really scary part is, she's starting to believe them.

The Circle of Blood Series

In another lifetime, six vampires lost their mates - and their mortality - to an unimaginable evil power. Now, if they can't reunite with the reincarnated souls of their lost loves soon, it may just mean the end of the world.

From award-winning author R. A. Steffan and fresh new voice Jaelynn Woolf comes a steamy paranormal romance series perfect for adult fans of vampire fiction. Check out Circle of Blood, Book One: Lover's Rebirth today and begin a heart-stopping journey that explores the power of love in a world gone mad with hate.

A vampire romance with an awesome heroine!

Della has been in danger lately. Riots in New Orleans. They seem to be otherworldly. I enjoyed the story, the world building is really good. A group of vampires are after their master for revenge. This dark entity is after Della. The vampire leader is Della’s soulmate and they come together ro fight the darkness. Lots of action, interesting characters and a beautiful romance. The narration was also on point with distinct voices for the characters.

True love never dies!

The last thing Trey expected was to 'feel' his long dead soulmate in the midst of a deadly gun battle. But that is what happens when he touches lovely Della. The fact that he is an elder Vampire, leader of the New Orleans coven and she is human complicates things.

Trey and his band of Vampire misfits are eternally locked in a struggle with demon lord Bael and it seems that for this fight at least that Della is at the centre of the battle.

His struggles to separate his feelings for his lost love and the human woman who carries her soul are at the heart of the story and does end with a HEA. But only after a lot of angst, some steam, a few laughs and much violence.

I loved listening to this book with its quirky characters and dark plotline. Although Trey and Della's story concludes the fight against Bael goes on and I for one can't wait to find out what happens next. More, please!

Different

This story has a totally different type of storyline. Reincarnation. It was a good concept and great characters but I just had a hard time that the story focused more on her past and who she was rather than who she is. That should matter the most to her. I liked that it was a different spin on the vampire tale but it just didn't go in a direction I enjoyed. Probably just me and what I imagined it should be. AudiobookObsessionReviewer

Wow

If you want a book that will keep your attention for the duration of the book and will linger in the back of your mind this is the book for you. Between the suspense and the unique take on vampires this is fantastic. Then as the added cherry on top throw on a fantastic narrator and you have a winner

Better than expected

I'm usually leery about new authors that aren't recommended to me by friends but was looking for a new book and this sounded interesting. Was a really well written book and enjoyable story. The narrator was great. Usually when an accent is used, it takes me out of the story but her accents were great and felt very natural.

Dark, with philosophical traces, Vampire series

What if Vampires weren't simply the creatures of the night? What if the Big Bang was the rendering of the balance between light and dark and our very existance keeps the two halves separate? What if vampires are the living embodiment of that rendering? In this book there are 6 vampires who were marked for darkness when human but, through great sacrifice from their soulmates, escape it. Now they dwell in the space between. They are the failures of Bael, the demon who wants darkness to reign supreme. More importantly there is a legend that 13 of Bael's failures will one day defeat him and restore balance.

This book is the first in the series. It is quite dark, weighty and violent, with plenty of action and a bit of stage-setting for the remainder of the series. Set in turbulent New Orleans, it shows the dark underbelly of demonic intentions with the undead attacking people, nightly gun violence and so on. Della is a human caught in the crossfire who, it turns out, is a prominent target of Bael. It turns out she has a connection with Trey, the leader of the vampire coven. Trey is unable to resist the call of her soul and repeatedly protects her. Their connection is strong as they figure out what they are to each other and how that is relevant to the legend.

I found this book very interesting. It is quite different from the usual vampire romance. I am looking forward to the remainder of the series. I was a bit iffy about Gwendolyn Druyor's performance to begin with but, as the story progressed, i appreciated how she brought the characters to life with their individual personalities reflected in the narration. She also reflected the darkness and desperation in the story. I enjoyed her performance.

A little slow off the mark...

What had a seemingly slow start turned into an enjoyable listen. It will be interesting to see where things go with the other characters on their quest, especially Snag as feel there is a hell of a lot more going on with him than it seems...

I felt "six of one and half a dozen of another" about the narration of this book... Her character representation was spot on but I had to seriously increase the audio speed to make it through the book? And the vocal quiver she would make just got annoying...

great listen!

I really enjoyed this book so much so that Ive just purchased the whole series. I would recommend purchasing the book bundle 1-3 instead of this singular book as both are 1 credit.
