Nice but unfinished

It's interesting, it's not the same as the original (of course not) which feels like so long ago. Fortunately a sequel exists that does conclude the story and I for one enjoyed the further adventures of Duncan and Co as they encounter the old couple and resolve the story in a way I found quite satisfying.

Chapter 40

Mispronounced name became annoying… inconsistent voices…. Great story shame it happened in the last book

Multiple voice actors

The multiple voices actors worked well. Being pedantic, consistency of the pronunciation of the word “Matre” would have been nice 😂

a great book

What made the experience of listening to Chapterhouse Dune the most enjoyable?

I found this to be as engaging as the original dune book. Really kept me enthralled the whole way through

Who was your favorite character and why?

I generally followed all the lead characters, a strong cast made it difficult to pick any single character out

Which scene did you most enjoy?

The final twist was a perk, was it all going just a bit too well

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not massively, I was hooked from beginning to end

Any additional comments?

A great listen

Clever story. Interesting ideas.

Cloning and cybernetics and the continuation of the human race.

If each cell held consciousness, you could go back to the origin of the race.

Not sure it needed three narrators, but fine.

I look forward to reading the follow on novels by Brian Herbert and Kevin Anderson.

Dull

Almost entirely dialogues that are broadly uninteresting and the overall plot never really goes anywhere

Superb storytelling, occasionally grating narration

As expected this final book has an exquisitely crafted story, expanding the multi-millennial arc and twisting in unexpected ways. This is slightly marred by some of the narrative performances. It would have been more respectful of the material to agree on certain key pronunciations between the different narrators and limit the (occasionally) overly bombastic style of delivery.

Great concluding story.....

Apart from some nasal heavy female voice over...I’ve just listened to all of Frank Herbert books and loved all of them....make sure you read the lovely dedication to his wife at the end....very moving...

Definitely worth a listen.

The story drags a little at times, but the narration is solid and carries it through. A little irritating how one of the narrators mispronounces 'matres', but other than that a very good listen if you've enjoyed the series.

Not quite there.

Whilst I still liked this story it wasn't quite there. There seems to be holes in the plot and Frank Herbert was planning further books. But as I said I still enjoyed the story and will read it again.
