Summary
Will they be her saviours or executioners?
Laya is called the Princess, but in fact, she’s nothing but a slave to her husband and cult leader Andros. Abused and suppressed, she has no hope of escape until three new recruits enter her life. They quickly take to living in the compound, but Laya can’t help feeling that they’re different. That they might not believe in what they have to do for Andros. That they aren’t as cold and cruel as him.
With Andros planning his cruellest deed yet, she needs to escape - but will these three men be her salvation or her doom?

Dark and beautiful
This is an amazing story about surviving abuse at the hands of her husband in a cult. If you have any type of trigger with regards to abuse you might want to pass this one on. If you’re able to get through that and listen to the storyline it’s one of the best dark stories I’ve ever heard in my entire life. It rock to me all the way to my core and that’s hard to do. Five stars all the way.

Fascinating story.
Amazing story! I am fascinated by cults so this story was right up my alley. Skye MacKinnon has clearly done her research and her characters show her knowledge of psychology.
The story is brutal but you can't stop reading. There are so many questions from the get go and you need to read on for answers.

Raw and beautiful
What a powerful book! So much raw and beautiful emotion. While it is hard to listen to the pain the MC has to suffer through her strength and determination through it all is inspiring. This isn't a traditional romance but I loved it.

I love Leah’s heart!
If I could have broken into this story and killed Andros... I would have within minutes of this story beginning! He is a hatful and vicious man who preys in those who follow him blindly!
I am a fan of dark listens, and I listened to the watnings at the beginning of this.. and decided to listen. It was a difficult listen because of Leah’s heart, she is so trusting and believes that all will be well!! I love her strength!
Without spoilers... I am not as happy with the ending as I wanted to be from the beginning, but still happy. How’s that for convoluted!
Kyo Sija does a wonderful job with the narration!!! You can hear the emotion and discern the characters so well!!!

Dark and Deceiving Cult
Laya has been severely abused physically, mentally, and emotionally, but her cult members, but most of all her husband Andros. With no where to go, no money, all personal ties cut to the outside world and brainwashed. Laya's believes her life is merely to accept the physical abuse for others that have sinned in her cult so they don't have to.
Other than the 3 men that came to save her and slept beside her, there really isn't any detailed sexual content to this story. It does mention Laya being sexually abused by her husband but doesn't go into graphic detail. Either way this story is gritty, and a hard hitting read. Unfortunately this story can and does happen in today's real world. It uncovers the mental thought process of real life situations that cam occur but are not widely discussed or known about. As ugly as a subject topic this is, this story is written with sensitivity, knowledge and education into some of the reasons why and how people are trapped in cult institutions.
My heart goes out to Laya and her strong will to survive while Andros repeatedly tried to break her. Unfortunately in the real world not everyone is given a HEA like Laya, but Skye MacKinnon does an amazing job writing this story with compassion and educating us on what happens inside the psyche of the abused.
Kyo Sija narrates this story with mature delivery. Her talent to inflict the emotion into all the characters while reading could be felt. This emotional story does have trigger warnings so those that might be sensitive to any form of abuse, I strongly recommend they consider another story.

Dark Storyline
Broken Princess: Trapped in a cult by Skye MacKinnon is a Contemporary Reverse Harem that I listened on audio narrated by Kyo Sija. This is book two in the Defiance Trilogy. All three books are standalones that are loosely connected by side characters and settings, but they each have a different heroine, theme and love interests. The storyline is dark and contains violence, sexual abuse, and other topics that may be triggering. Listen at your own discretion.
This is the second book of Skye’s that I have read and it definitely won’t be my last. I can’t wait until book three Stolen Soul is released.
Kyo did an amazing job narrating. She did a great job with the different voices for each character. It really helped pull me into the story. They are an amazing duo. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves Dark Reverse Harem Novels.

Broken Princess
This books has so much pain in it that you can’t help but feel it along with Laya. A story that although fiction, you know that it can and does happen in real life when involved with some cults. This is a story about strength and conviction to move beyond what has broken you. Laya is such a strong character and with the help of three amazing men she is able to overcome so much. A very good listen!

Dark
This book was such a dark and emotional story of the abuse one woman suffers at the hands of her husband after being brainwashed in a cult. It was a pretty intense story with lots of trigger warnings. It kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the whole book, but I felt the ending was lacking a bit. Hopefully, these characters are mentioned in the next book but I don't really think so. Either way, I'm looking forward to listening to the other books in this series. Kyo Sija does an amazing job bringing this story to life and seamlessly changes voices and accents for the various characters.
