Summary

I lost her once. I won’t lose her again.

After my brother’s death, I was drowning.
Delilah was my life raft.
We were opposites, the outspoken art student and the brooding athlete. She was passionate where I was apathetic, bright where I was dark, soft where I was hard.
For two years, we had everything. The kind of love that only exists in fairy tales.
Then she left and took my heart with her.
I tried to heal. To throw myself into medical school. To forget her.
I thought I did.
Until today.
Those blue eyes, that sweet smile, the soft curves--that's my Delilah.
As soon as I hear her laugh, I know.
She's what’s missing from my life.
I have three days to get her back.
God, I hope I'm as charming as I used to be.

From the author: Broken is a standalone second chance romance full of heat, heart, and heartbreak. Come see why readers say "Crystal Kaswell is the master of writing sharp, wounded characters who keep you on your toes."

Just... Wow.

I'm speechless. Truly speechless. This has everything. I laughed, I cried, I wanted Delilah and Trent to figure out their s**t sooooo badly! In the best possible way, I was on edge. As the story unfolded.... wowzas! Crystal has such an amazing writing style that sucks you in, draws emotions from you and spins you on your axis. Just when you think you have it all figured out.... BAM! She hits you with a curve ball that you don't see coming. I had all the feels listening to this and I'm not ashamed to admit I cried. There was a point in the story where I found myself clutching at my chest for dear life!

Crystal never shys from sensitive subjects and I'm thankful for that. She arroaches them with care, dignity, openness and realism to name a few.

Honestly, get ready for an amazing rollacoaster of a story that will leave you a little bit different to how you were before.

Wow!!

Broken by Crystal Kaswell is a beautifully written and heartfelt love story. The characters are absolutely amazing; it's impossible not be be moved by their journey. The dynamic duo, Kai Kennicott, Wen Ross, brought the emotions, intensity, and the characters chemistry to life. I was given a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Angsty but good, flashbacks a bit jarring

I primarly listened to the audiobook, which was done in a duet style. Have Wen Ross and Kai Kennicott ever narrated poorly? They have beautifully smooth voices and excellent timing, pacing and emotion so they elevate every story they read. However, in this case, because this is such an emotional story, it’s even more evident how good they are.

I borrowed this book from KU and went back and forth between the book and the audiobook, which I received upon request. I think that the ebook was good in providing more clarity in terms of timeline because the book jumped from past to present over the course of the book so if you miss the notation about whether this was past or present, it gets confusing. I have to admit, I tend to not like too many flashbacks but that's a personal preference.

However, the author has a very distinctive style of writing, with emphasis on certain words. The audiobook excelled at emphasizing those words with emotion, which I think was the main reason I feel like the audiobook is the best way to go through this book.

Delilah and Trent were in a relationship when Delilah left him. 2 years later, they meet again and their relationship resumes but Trent has to convince her to be with him again. I really don’t get why he was willing to forgive and forget so quickly- yes they loved each other but she supposedly destroyed him. I also wasn’t a huge fan of Delilah’s. This story tackles some difficult topics surrounding mental health. It was well done- angsty and emotional but compelling. Definitely worth a listen.
