I find the narration extremely irritating

A good story, completely ruined by the narration. Every sentence ends with a stress on the last word. Ugh!

Reads more like a comic, but still fun!

A clever story idea that held my attention. It had the usual pace of a Jack Reacher novel with many of the signature elements these Lee Child books are famous for.

For me there were a number of unbelievable aspects to this book that did detract from my enjoyment though. Even though any Reacher story is a world away from reality, they are usually plausible enough not to challenge the reader's sense of logic and probability. Not this time!

reacher is always good this narrator too staccato

Jack Reacher is a great hero but the reading was far too staccato for me and spoilt the book. buy a paperback

Sadly the narrator didn’t work for me....

Hard to really get stuck into a book when the narration grates. I just didn’t like the way the the book was read; it was very strange, not up to the usual Audible standards, so it just didn’t work for me. Big Lee Child’s fan though.

Tom cruise is to small for the part

loved it good story line and well read but seemed to miss a couple of chapters along the way maybe to descriptive,but all in all very good thanks.

My first Jack Reacher book

This was my first Reacher book. Story wise it was entertaining enough, nothing ground shattering and some fairly large plot holes, but still worth a read if this genre is your bag. I had a really hard time with the narration on this one however, he made everyone sound like they were either very old, or constantly puzzled or both due to the strange nasal delivery of any of the accents and then the constant upward inflection. After a long listen this started to really grate on me and had me taking elongated breaks from it. Had I had the time, I would have much rather had read this as opposed to listen to it.

I moved on to The Gray Man series by Mark Greaney which I find much more entertaining, even if it's still full of its own machismo, the narration is much better and consistent, and the writing is slightly more earnest in presenting the usual espionage thriller tropes with marginally more filled out characters.

Bit Boring

This is the first time I have ever found a Jack Reacher book boring. Jeff Harding narrates excellently as usual but I felt the descriptions of his fights went on too long. I don't object to the fights, the weapons, his tactics per se but I got to the stage where I didn't care and just wanted him to move on with the plot. Reacher may say nothing but I was shouting at him to get on with it.

Is Jack Reacher wearing a bit thin?

I don’t say this lightly, as I am a big fan of all the books, but somehow this is missing some of the Reacher magic. It’s not that it doesn’t have a story and it’s not that there’s anything wrong with that story, it just seems to be a little too easy for Reacher this time round. It lacks the knife edge suspense of the other books and it also seems that there’s no one keeping check on what is probably Reacher’s most prolific killing spree. That’s not to say that it’s not entertaining, yes it is, but it’s not Lee Child at his best and consequently not Jack Reacher at his best. As far as I can remember, I’ve never felt that about any of the previous books, but here, there’s just something missing.

It won’t stop me looking forward to the next instalment in Reacher’s life on the road and neither would I say that he should turn in his bus pass and call it a day, as I think there’s plenty more to come, but this feels a little lacklustre, maybe even rushed, enough meat on the bones, but only just.

Jeff Harding is perfect for these books and I love his delivery, I know he’s ‘marmite’ and some hate his narration, but personally I find he’s Reacher’s voice personified, so top marks there.

Typical Reacher

Another good story from Lee Child.
The narrator makes the story telling enjoyable.
It might be me but Jack Reacher novels are either getting same old same old or I'm getting bored of them. Although I did enjoy the listen , I've enjoyed other Teacher novels more .

Hard going!

I'm devoted to Jack Reacher and separately to Jeff Harding. However, this is probably my least favourite Reacher read by him. It's not his fault. It's the accents! Maybe they are perfect American/Ukrainian and American/Albanian accents; I can't tell. I suppose there was little alternative. But they really are hard to listen to for hours on end.
