Summary

How far would you go to bury the truth?

While searching for a missing hill walker, Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team uncovers a body - just not the one they were looking for.

Still dealing with the fallout from their last case, DCI Jack Logan and his team venture south from Inverness to investigate a brutal, gangland-style execution in the wilds of the Highland countryside.

As the victim's dark secrets are gradually revealed, Jack uncovers the rot lurking beneath the stunning scenery, making himself the target of a criminal more dangerous than any he has faced before.

If he isn't careful, it won't just be a murder he's dealing with in Glencoe.

It'll be a massacre.

Blood and Treachery is the fourth book by number one Amazon best-selling author JD Kirk, perfect for fans of Tartan Noir.

Bury your Gays

Are we seriously still doing "Bury your Gays" in the 2020s?
The author of a book has the power to not do things the way they have always been done, to make narrative choices that are not rote or complacent. To have a character come out as LGBTQ and then a couple pages later die (violently) is a tired and lazy trope. I thought we had moved past this by now. Apparently not. I enjoyed the book otherwise, but this thoroughly disappointed me.

His books never fail to grip you till the end

I love listening to the audiobook version after I have read the book months before. It refreshes your mind of the finer parts of the story, funny, gory and sad. JD Kirk at his best as always.

Brilliant narrator

Loving this series BUT I have guessed who did it each time, mainly because I know it won't be the person things point to and there has only been one person who doesn't come under suspicion and who you really wouldn't logically suspect. There should be a few of those and then it would be harder to guess! Brilliant books though, with believable characters and realistic dialogue.

Good if not slightly predictable

Another solid entry in this franchise the performance and audio is excellent. The story though is relatively predictable. It does keep you entertained however if you’ve read the previous books you’ll guess who did the crime and will also be underwhelmed by other events in the book. Overall a good book however certainly not the best in the series.

My new fave author

I’ve only just discovered JD Kirk in the last month and I have binged on this series. Great wit, humanity and read brilliantly by the narrator. This one really got me in the feels!

Another exciting DCI Logan tale…

Well put together story; good plot, suspensefully told, with what are, by now, well known & well lived characters. Excellent narrator in Angus King, too.
