Summary
"Tsk, tsk," Erland muttered, shaking his head in mock sympathy. "Perhaps Lissa should raise the topic of diplomatic immunity at the Conclave."
"That, my friend, would be inadvisable. She is new and many will be waiting, as vultures do when an ox is dying."
"I know. At times, I feel the need to cover myself in oil, just to slip through the tripe and garbage of Wylend's court. Lissa will have to contend with 500 times that when she goes to Conclave."
"I fear that no amount of diplomatic oil will keep her from the shock that is coming. She will be snubbed and mistreated by many, I fear. Not only because she is a new monarch, but because there is a price on her head. Most will be placing as much distance between that and themselves as they can get. It is never wise to befriend one who is marked by the Assassin's Guild. That is usually a death waiting to happen."
Death has come to Le-Ath Veronis. A would-be assassin, aiming at Lissa, kills someone close to her instead. A price has been placed on Lissa's head by Black Mist, an assassin's guild who have been paid by a reassembled Solar Red. Throw in a spin-off religion, betrayal, a misguided kidnapping and the Five-Year Conclave for the Reth Alliance, and you have the seeds of war.

Better in Book form than Audio - Good Read
I love this series and have read and re-read all of them - as I have said before the author is somewhat clumsy in her writing but the overall story in good.
The narrator was much better in the earlier books when there where fewer characters. I have problems with her voices.
The voice she used for Roff and Thurlow are very very alike which I found extremely distracting.
The character, Rigo is according to the book, more than a millennium old and has a strong sense of morality and integrity yet the voice HE has been given is that of a young girl perhaps it might be a boy. I wouldn't normally suggest a change of narrator in the middle of a series but on this occasion, please consider it.

Blood War !!!!!
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
yes but only if they have listened to the series
Would you ever listen to anything by Connie Suttle again?
Of course I really enjoy her work
Have you listened to any of Traci Odom’s other performances? How does this one compare?
I like Traci Odom's narration although it does change throughout the books but that's a good thing for me, As I have gotten used to hearing her during the rest of the series
Was Blood War worth the listening time?
I have listened to all of the books available in this series, I have to admit lissa does nothing but moan and complain about her life, she never appears to be happy or content with her life.
I loved the books in the beginning but find that the longer these books run the less I like her,
Grffin well he is just a waste of time out to destroy his daughters life no matter where she is, I'm yet to find out why he wiped roph's memory there doesn't appear to be a reason for this, yet it pops into the book with no real reason or explanation. I will as I have done so far listen to the next book Connie has written, I hope there is explanations for these rather random acts by Griffin.
Any additional comments?
I can only hope that further books in the series have better ground work, Lissa needs to be happier with her lot , She is one of the Nameless ones so her power is greatest surely with that power should come the possibility of some laughter and happiness.
