Summary
All vampires suck. Sterling just happens to be very good at it.
Vainglorious vampire Sterling is forced to trade his big city hedonism for a trip to a sleepy mountain town, where mangled dead bodies have been discovered. Soon he’s entangled with snooty vampire nobles, territorial werewolves, and a society of law-enforcing sorcerers.
The locals aren’t so bad, like the luscious young lady at the fruit shop, or the hunky electrician whose smile sends out sparks. But they’re distractions from the hunt for the mountain murderer. And then there’s the eerie enigma: Why are all these corpses missing their faces?

Loved this story, wish it had been longer
This was my first Nazri Noor listen but I doubt it will be my last, I loved this story, it has all the right ingredients for a great Urb Fan story, all the supernaturals, Gods included, foolish humans and riotous partying. Not to mention the creepy shack in the woods. It's humerous, it's highly entertaining, when's the next one out?
I was lucky enough to receive my copy free of charge in exchange for my honest review, which is given above, I really did love it, and can't wait for book 2.

“Cocktails, blood, karate chops!”
Really enjoyed this book! Really fun from start to finish and there’s tons going on. Filled with Vamps, Weres, necromancers… and that’s just the good guys!!
Narration is great and perfectly suits the characters! Is the MC’s voice a little whiney? Yes, but that’s because that’s what the MC needs! Very well done!
I really can’t wait for book 2!
This is my honest opinion on a free review copy.

Fantastic
A brilliant start to the series by Nazri Noor. Sterling was a great character in the Darkling Mage series but to get his point of view in the new adventures was just fantastic. Nick Podehl did a super job with the narration. Hope more of Nazri Noor's books become available on audible.

Supporting cast escape into their own book
The supporting cast in the author's Darkling Mage series have always been entertaining, but with this book they get to stretch themselves a bit by carrying the book as the main characters, which they do easily and well, with the change in location helping to provide sufficient distance from the other series too.
This book was told from the perspective of Sterling and it'd be interesting to see if that continues in subsequent books, the series title would imply that will be the case, but it might be a bit of a missed opportunity if the other two don't get their turn as well. Perhaps the author feels more comfortable writing for this character, in some ways he shares a number of traits with Dustin in the other books.
The narrator does a sterling job with his performance, bringing the main characters and supporting cast firmly to life, enhancing the book very well.
Overall, an entertaining listen that benefits from the character building in the main series, while also having it's own distinctive feel to it. I will look forward to more from both of them in the future.

Unexpected
Absolutely loved this story. Was sceptical about the narrator but once I got into it, he was amazing! Absolutely loved his interpretation of Sterling and all the other characters too!
