Summary

The 12th heart-pounding thriller in Stephen Leather's best-selling Spider Shepherd series.

In what could be his highest-profile mission ever, Dan 'Spider' Shepherd is called in to prevent the assassination of a head of state on British soil.

As an MI5 agent, Spider is used to going undercover, but when he's asked to assume the identity of the contract killer hired to take out President Vladimir Putin, he knows he'll become a wanted man.

And things are about to get more complicated: Spider is told that his MI5 controller and close friend Charlotte Button has been running an off-the-books assassination operation, taking vengeance on the men who killed her husband. Spider owes his life to Button - but this discovery will stretch his loyalty to the limit....

Another great ‘Spider Shepherd’ book.

I’ve read and listened to the whole series twice. They’re all excellent books. Paul Thornley is a particularly good narrator, which does make a significant difference when listening to an audiobook.
The only criticism is the inconsistency of Lex Harper’s accent. I think he started as a Scot, then a Londoner and then an Australian!!! Nevertheless, highly recommended. Enjoy the whole series, but do start at the beginning

Spider keep going

The plot of this series is very tight despite following mostly in sequence and yet having each book have it's own story.

Great

My only problem was with Lex his accent was different this time.! He was a scot before not a londoner. Why?

WARNING SPOILERS!

As usual I really enjoyed this Spider Shepherd book, however I was disappointed that Lex Harper has suddenly lost his Scottish accent completely. Also getting a bit bored with Spider getting on his high horse about others actions but it’s completely justifiable when he does similar things. Glad Charlie called him out on it at the end!

Lex.

Good story. Can’t get passed Lex’s change in accent though from the last book or is that just me?
