Practical advice from a passionate expert

From business strategies and management development plans to the power of blended learning and measuring progress, Better Managers = Better Business covers everything you need to know about building your people managers up. Pete Fullard is clearly passionate about what he does. This, as well as his demonstrable experience, speaks volumes.

This audio book is a great listen for multiple professionals across multiple sectors. Whether you're part of an L&D team, a manager / CEO / business owner, or someone who works in HR.

I found the information about different competencies particularly enlightening. In a nutshell, there are seven areas to assess your people managers on (team working, communication, adapting to change, relationships, planning and organising, ability to analyse, and delivering results), and 69 behaviours within these. Understanding this and knowing how to work it to your advantage could be a bit of a game-changer when it comes to assessing your managers' abilities and bolstering your business.

Pete goes into granular detail across so many areas within people management (e.g. immersive learning, tailoring L&D to different generations / learning styles, how to communicate with the board), but the information never feels overwhelming or confusing. You're left with a real sense of inspiration, confidence and direction.

In short: real food for thought. If you can, have a notebook handy to jot down thoughts and timestamps of significance. There are plenty of them.
