Summary

Four-time Tony Award® winner Harvey Fierstein takes on New York City’s very own political firebrand, Bella Abzug, in his new raucous, heart-rending, and absurdly humorous solo show. Set in 1976, on the eve of her bid to become New York State’s first female senator, Bella Bella finds this larger-than-life, truth-slinging, groundbreaking, hat-wearing icon squirreled away in the bathroom of a midtown hotel awaiting that night’s election results while a coterie of family and celebs await her entrance. Directing is Kimberly Senior (The Niceties).

Superb

An inspiring insight into a woman trailblazer I had no knowledge of. Brilliantly portrayed by Harvey Firestone. I would describe this as an historical monologue of American political struggles mid 1900s

Poignant

Harvey Fierstein brings the all into this production. Women's rights and their presence is the reason that Life is good, however, the patriarchy is a devil in the details. Harvey hammers away at the walls and fantastically handles it all in this well appointed drama. What an accurate and poignant treatise that Harvey recounts!

I loved the comedy and the astute observations from a female point of view and I really agree as a feminist.

Bravo Brian!

Chutzpah, Humanity, and Humour

I knew nothing of Bella Abzug. Harvey Fierstien has used his distinctive voice and Abzug's powerful words to educate and entertain. Inspiring.

Entertaining, enlightening and informative

I had never heard of this lady before but she sounds amazing. Her story was told in a beautifully personal way and I would definitely like to know more about. In fact, I Googled her immediately after I finished listening.

Loved it!

I wasn't sure I would enjoy this with it being American politics but I love Harvey Fierstein voice so took a chance and I'm so glad I did.
Not only was it funny, it was thought provoking, sad, joyous and weirdly relatable.
If in doubt as to whether to listen, give it a chance, what have you got to lose :)

Brilliant and Amazing witty short story.

This came up on Audible and I started listening. I was puzzled by the male female but quickly grew to love Harvey Fierstein’s gravelly voice. The content was great with humour that got me laughing out loud. I will look out for more from Fierstein.
