Summary
From the author of The Secret Life of Albert Entwistle.
A charming, joyful and surprising story about love, friendship and learning to be true to yourself, Becoming Ted will steal your heart.
Ted Ainsworth has always worked at his family's ice cream business in the quiet Lancashire town of St Luke's-on-Sea.
He doesn't even like ice cream, though he's never told his parents that. When Ted's husband suddenly leaves him, the bottom falls out of his world.
But what if this could be an opportunity to put what he wants first? This could be the chance to finally follow his secret dream: something Ted has never told anyone ...

I loved this. The story is full of sympathetic characters and is very cleverly plotted. It is also beautifully narrated.

Excellent read
A brilliantly engaging read with comedy, sadness, but also uncovering and addressing issues we all come across in life. Difficult to put down

Should be available on the NHS
What a fantastic new book from Matt Cain. I listened to the Audio book and snorted with laughter. Great characters, brilliantly drawn and a 'How to' for all those amazing wannabe drag queens out there. A huge thank you. just what I needed in a dark and dreary January.

Fabulous from start to finish
I loved Albert Entwistle and Matt has done it again bringing the gorgeous Ted into our lives.
As a Northerner living in exile, the expressions and reminders of growing up in the North West are ever present
A really uplifting, feel good read

Magnificent
I discovered Matt Cain’s audio books completely by accident whilst searching for something new to add to my library and immediately on listening to the sample, I knew that I had found a jewel among authors whose choice of reader was absolutely perfect. This is the second book from Matt Cain that I have listened to and which I have enjoyed immensely. I am now going back to search for another gem to add to my collection.

💋BOOK TOUR REVIEW💋
Becoming Ted by @mattcainwriter
Huge thank you to Joe and @headlinebooks for my #gifted copy of the book and to Matt Cain for such a fantastic read!
“It’s never too late to follow your dreams…41 year-old Ted Ainsworth has worked in his family's ice-cream business, in the quiet Lancashire town of St Luke's-on-Sea, for his whole life. But the truth is, Ted has never wanted to work for the family firm - he doesn't even like ice cream, though he’d never tell his parents that. And when Ted's husband suddenly leaves him, the bottom falls out of his world. But Ted isn't alone. His best friend, the flamboyant Denise, is determined to help - she hasn't forgotten that he once helped her through her worst time. She knows that Ted has a secret dream, and she's going to help him on his way, despite his parents, the disapproval of locals, and a series of mysterious letters that may threaten the happiness of Ted's nearest and dearest… .”
What an uplifting read! Following along on Ted’s journey to becoming who he really is and always wanted to be.
I cannot STAND Giles!! The snippets that are shared of his and Ted’s interactions made me feel so sad that Ted had been stuck with him for almost 20 years!!
Watching Ted blossom into his own was like watching a sibling realising their dreams. Filled me with pride at his bravery ❤️
I really enjoyed the inputs from the sideline characters like Oskar and Denise. The really helped to round the story for me.
I am now really excited to read Matt’s previous book The Secret Life of Albert Entwistle 🥰
Such a heartwarming and empowering read for anyone!
