Summary
Belle didn't mean to veer off the road.
It was the little boy standing in the middle of the road that made her swerve her motorcycle down the embankment as she made her escape.
"You hit your head pretty hard," her rescuer's voice fades as she follows the boy into the woods, the one her rescuer said didn't exist.
The boy guides her to his castle in the woods, where the two must face a terrible beast, and unlock a dark family secret in order to survive.
A contemporary take on Beauty and the Beast with a literary twist.

Unique Retelling
This was an intriguing retelling of beauty and the beast. Belle is a book editor, the beast is the young son of the castle owner struck by a spell meant for his wicked father years ago. The young boy is terrified by the fact he is both boy and beast. Belle ends up trapped in the castle with the boy, and the only way out is for her to edit and rewrite books long forgotten in the castle library.

Intriguing and original
I really enjoyed this intriguing and original story. Although it has elements similar to the Beauty and the Beast fairytale, it is truly a unique and different story. It's very entertaining, although poignant and sorrowful in places, and ends on a hopeful note. I did wonder who the man was who tried to help Belle after her accident and what happened to the King. but most of my other questions were satisfied. I love the whole idea of changing the present by rewriting the story.
The narration was good and suited the characters and story.
