Highly recommend - dark, gritty, intriguing
Dark, gritty, intriguing. The characters are very likeable; I enjoyed the plot and wanted to listen to more. I liked that characters are featured from other books.

Obsessed!
I loved this entire series. I listened to all four books in a week and will definitely be revisiting them...once I've devoured the rest of the books written by LJ Shen.

I could not get enough of these characters
This one was definitely on the darker side in this series. I could not get enough of these characters. They were both equally intriguing with past traumas that had me shocked and actually crying. LJ really fleshed these characters out so much, they have so much depth they felt like real people. I loved how Bane was just himself from start to finish and really focused on helping Jesse come out of her shell. He protected her something fierce but 100% believed that he is not her Prince Charming because she is strong enough to save herself. While he was helping her get reacquainted with the outside world, after becoming a recluse because of her trauma, she actually helped him more in the end by discovering himself and his worth. This was such an incredible story, I cannot get over it. LJ really outdid herself with this one.
This was definitely my favorite book of the series, simply for the fact that it produced such an emotional punch.
This series really had everything I needed and more. Definitely a LJ Shen fan for life.

Amazing emotional story. A fantastic listen
Jesse was brutally broken by people who she trusted Her mum was the worst of all as shei is so self centred and she never supported her daughter even when she needed her the most. Jesse needed a special kind of person to give her the courage reclaim her independence and herself to live and feel again. Bane is fascinating, mysterious character, He is a con artist and a sexy infamous ladies man. He can be scarly intimidating but he is definitely the perfect choice for Jesse.
I loved how strong she became after she got her groove back. "I would spread and conquer and be remembered" (Jesse's words)
not without the help of the highly complicated imperfect hero. They had amazing chemistry and they saved each really, as Bane had his own demons that he needed to be freed from. In the end, justice was served to wrongdoers and the wrong decided to be Victors instead of victims.

why is this not a movie???
the full series should be a movie. so well written and the stories are all great. there are components of drama that are really dleicate, but treated with respect by the author. the characters are very believable and i just loved every single minute of it. the cover of this book has become my wallpaper. the narratpr were absolutely PERFECT. loved it.

Christian Rummel brings his A game
I'm a big fan of Savannah Peachwood she's a fantastic narrator and this series is perfection for her as usual. in the last couple of books I found Christian Rummel 's female MC voice hard to distinguish and lost track of who was speaking sometimes...not this time, he did an amazing job of the character with a lisp and his female MC voice was obvious and on point. well done Mr Rummel your A game was perfection, I thoroughly enjoyed both performances. this series has had me gripped from the start and I devoured each book one after the other.

Takes you in a compelling emotional ride!
All the human emotions put together in a seductive ride. LJ Shen draws you in and doesn't let go. Yhe chemistry between the characters is amazing! Plus, Savannah Peachwood is the best voice actor out there.

Excellent story
This book was very emotional, but also very witty and it kept you guessing about what was going to happen next. I would say definitely worth a listen. I immensely enjoyed it!!

Wow!
I loved the narration and the characters. They are so real and intricate. This was one of the hardest stories I ever had to listen to. Heartbreaking but beautiful at the same time. So much pain and sentiment. loved it!!!
