About this listen

Ilea is going home. After a small detour to raid an old Necromancer’s treasure room.

After months in the barren and deadly North, Ilea returns to Ravenhall to rest, check-in on old friends, and of course–train her resistances. Her homecoming includes a visit to Riverwatch where she encounters new allies… and old enemies. But what would a good holiday be without a few fights and near-death experiences?

Unfortunately, Ilea’s blood-soaked reunions are cut short when she is summoned back to Hallowfort, to help deal with a sinister corruption that is spilling out from the first layer of the Descent.

Searching for a lost expedition, Ilea explores an ancient dungeon host to long-forgotten secrets. She will be pushed to her limit and face dangers that no one in their right mind would dare to stand against.

Sounds like fun, right?

About the series:

Join Ilea as she is transported to a world full of monsters and magic, where power is measured by one's class, level and skills. Watch her grow in power, and recklessness, as she wields ancient hand-to-hand combat magic that can both heal and destroy. This Isekai story has a dual-Class LitRPG system where every skill, class and ability can evolve. Ilea’s tale is equal parts comfy slice-of-life wanderings, goofy jokes and brutal, blood-pumping battles with nightmarish monsters. Join her as she delves into forgotten dungeons, hoards snacks and generally does whatever she feels like.

Really enjoyable continuation of the story

What an audiobook and a really enjoyable listen.

There is a bit of everything: combat, humour, combat, adventure, and some more combat and dungon diving.

I value the lack of personal drama; the main character knows who she is and her nature. and all she wants is to have some fun and test herself by punching Montser.

There are some nice twists, and the world-building is well done. I especially liked when she visited her old friends and helped them.

The narration was really well done as usual, and the pace was perfect.

If you enjoyed the previous books, you should enjoy this one. I eagerly anticipate the next book.

Classic adventures with on the job training

Firstly, Andrea did a FANTASTIC job with the narration; as always, she truly brings the characters to life!

This book sees a nice blend of character interactions that reminds you that there’s a whole world going on outside of the main story beats.

There are a bunch of varied fights and a lot of training. I often get combat fatigue in stories like this but the author manages to keep it feeling fresh by showcasing new features and not labouring over the minutiae.

I think this is aided by breaking the violence up into smaller chunks and interspersing them with training and quips.

This book wasn’t as weighed down with emotional baggage as previous instalments, instead getting on with some solid adventuring. Most likely leaving us primed for having our hearts ripped out at some later date…

Lots of answers to older questions in this book too.

So yeah… why are you still reading this, start reading the book already!

Great pacing and character growth

This story is one of my favourites definitely in my top 5, for several reasons. Not only is the story and MC badass. The author has really thought about the progression and abilities of all characters. Also, book 4 answers some unanswered questions from previous books.

I can't wait for the next installment.
