Summary
A civilization stolen from the history books. A billionaire's obsession to unlock its secrets. A brotherhood determined to hide the truth. And time is running out.
Only a handful of people know what destroyed the ancient Atlanteans, whose very existence is a secret that they will kill to protect. Unfortunately, the very same catastrophe that destroyed that once proud civilization is drawing near once more. The question is, can marine biologist Sam Reilly discover the truth in time to prevent it?

This is awesome! Brilliant story and characters
From the first few seconds in we are thrown into a great action thriller. The pace never lets up and I really like the characters. From our mysterious Billionaire who has his own submarine and a newly acquired female archaeologist who has all the answers (or most of the them) to the puzzle that is Atlantis to Sam and Tom our cool male heroes and even the Phoenix Brotherhood. They are all great. The story roars along and takes us all over the world. I love the ideas the author brings to Atlantis and this lost civilisation that spanned the world but fell/was written out of history. It dips into past historical cover-ups of the artefacts and cities which is really great too. From start to finish I was entertained and swept along for the ride.
I'm looking forward to jumping into the next book because this one is brilliant.
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review

Clever stories, but the narration..
I'm on a binge of these stories, but a break is in order. They're clever, if formulaic stories, which entertain. Well-researched, but I'm starting to struggle with the narrator. The voices don't match the characters, in my mind's eye, and the pigmy (spoiler) sounds distinctly Fu Manchurian! A small gripe and a wee break will gird the loins for the next adventure. Don't get me wrong - they're perfect escapism and I'd recommend them. I may have just overdosed!

Sam Reilly wins again
I was provided with a free copy of this audiobook in return for an honest review.
I am very grateful to Ashton at the publishing group as he was able to provide me with free copies of the Sam Reilly novels from 1 to 5 in exchange for my honest opinion. This means that I got to listen to each of the instalments in order and follow Sam's adventures right through.
As with the first two books The Last Airship and The Mahogany Ship, I was gripped from the start with this one. Like a lot of people who are interested in history, the idea of Atlantis intrigues me and I love to hear different ideas about where it was and what they had that made people remember them.
Christopher has managed to make Atlantis seem real to me, even though I know it is just fiction. When that happens you know the author you are reading has given you a great experience. The addition of kidnapping, the ancient architects, bad guys who may be good guys, good guys who may be bad guys, a lost tribe in Central Africa and the location of Atlantis being discovered where it was all leads to a fantastic thrill ride that I listened to in two sittings.
I've realised that I didn't mention the narrator in my previous review and I can remedy that now. David Gilmore reads all the Sam Reilly books I have. Narrators are incredibly important to audiobooks, they can ruin the story if they're bad, they can enhance the story if they're good, and if they're great (David you are this one) you barely notice that you are being read to, and you lose yourself in the story. I have great admiration for this narrator as I barely noticed his reading, I just enjoyed the whole book.
I've already downloaded book for and I intend to listen to that immediately.

An Excellent Adventure
This is Indiana Jones brought up to date and given a few extra twists. It's a non stop listen as the pace is relentless. The characters travel the world solving riddles and unfolding the mystery of Atlantis whilst double crossing villains give chase. The excellent narration adds to the enjoyment and sets just the right pace. Lots of twists and turns keep the listern guessing to the gripping conclusion.
