About this listen

The heroic story of the only female Argonaut, told by Jennifer Saint, the bestselling author of ELEKTRA and ARIADNE.

When a daughter is born to the King of Arcadia, she brings only disappointment.

Left exposed on a mountainside, the defenceless infant Atalanta, is left to the mercy of a passing mother bear and raised alongside the cubs under the protective eye of the goddess Artemis.

Swearing that she will prove her worth alongside the famed heroes of Greece, Atalanta leaves her forest to join Jason's band of Argonauts. But can she carve out her own place in the legends in a world made for men?

Incredible story and performance

The story of a 'lesser' known Greek hero, completely justified in her place beside Heracles, Perseus and Jason. I really enjoyed this Greek myth retelling, Atalanta is a wonderful hero to examine and this book does just that in the best ways. Exciting adventure and a heartfelt story arc.

greek tragedy

It's a good retelling of a story from a woman's perspective, narrator was easy to listen to. the story didn't go how I expected it to go.

Atalanta - a forgotten wonder

I liked this book so much and Beth Eyre narrates it so very very well. A wonderful tale of a wonderfully powerful girl in the age of myths and Gods. So grateful that Jennifer Saint has highlighted that a woman accompanied Jason and the Argonauts on their Quest for the Golden Fleece? Who knew? I certainly didn't.

Amazing!

Enchanting, magical, inspiring and all of the feminist attitude that we need in a heroine. Loved this and Ariadne. About to read Elektra now.

An awesome character

Atlanta is a true female heroine from the Greek myths. Rather than Turing Spider-Man, iron man and James Bond into women , why not use her as a female character?
I felt that the narrator was unable to get in to the awesome confident personality of Atalanta. Narrator seemed to be too polite and humble for the character and personality that Atalanta presents.

Saints best yet!

I am a big fan of Saints pieces. Ariadne and Elektra were both amazing, but this tops them both completely. Absolutely gripping until the last sentence and written in a wonderfully modern tone. Once again a wonderful feminist retelling. Definitely recommend. Beth Eyre was also once again lovely to listen to.
