About this listen
Through hellish training, Arc became a hero—reaching the pinnacle of strength in the world of Arlas.
Arc was an ordinary young woman from Earth when she was summoned to an icy hell where she fought for her survival in the name of training to become a hero.
Now, after defeating the Overlord itself and achieving the status of hero, she leaves with the goal of enjoying her freedom. She arrives at Arlas, a fantasy world with magic and monsters, a world with numbers, tiers, and classes, a world governed by the System that summoned her.
She is not alone. There are other heroes, masters of their element, warped individuals who have escaped their own hell. And they have their own agenda, from taking over the world to even killing other heroes.
But Arc isn't any hero; she's the one who mastered the element of frost, the element of ice that can even freeze the sense of time itself. And when confronted with an incomprehensible task of broken letters—to fulfill her duties as a hero for the broken System—she makes her decision.
To live a normal life, fight whoever comes her way, and ignore whatever the delusional System says. As for the heroes? She will fight them, too, if they dare to stand in her way.
Join Arc as she explores the world of Arlas, a place dominated by the same System that summoned her in the first place, a world with classes, levels, and magic. Watch her explore the world and take on terrifying foes with her ice abilities that can freeze anything. This isekai series features a badass overpowered main character and intriguing worldbuilding. Arc's story has great character moments and exciting and satisfying battles with monsters and other heroes alike.

Need an Ark? I Noah an Arc
Arc: The SS Tier Heroine by #Azrie published by @podium_ent. I adored this book. Arc our female OP AF MC took the #litRPG genre to a whole new level. We normally see the hero kicking arse from the start but Arc struggles from the beginning, transported into a domain of🥶frost.
I loved the inventiveness of the skills created by our MC. She begins her journey as an F-tier - the lowest rank possible and hunted for nearly 6 years. She thrives, harnesses her skills and eventually starts to enjoy her role as a frost mage ❄️ a manipulator of ice.
Eventually, Arc leaves the frost domain and stumbles upon a royal carriage being attacked by mercenaries. Arc isn't having any of it so she kills all of the mercs in an instant. Enter Salone who is the first person Arc ever meets and thus a lifelong friendship is made.
The orator @RachelLeblang did an incredible job narrating this book to an exemplary standard. I particularly liked how she vocalised the male voices in this story. I maybe blind but I still have good taste and this is a great book📚 5/5⭐️#bookreview

Nice relaxing wish fulfillment story
Male voices sound strange, not particularly good nor too bad. Only time I wouldn't recommend it is if you are particularly piky.
Story is nice, not perfect but I enjoyed the power wish fulfilment. Will wait for book 2.

Simple, but fun overpowered MC story
The prose is pretty poor and it is very YA styled, but still a 'different enough' Lit-rpg take on an overpowered Main Character story.

Gave up halfway
The summary for this book intrigued me but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. I listened about halfway before I had to put the book down. I'm going to touch upon some of the issues I had with it.
Disclaimer: this is all my personal opinion and the things I thought were an issue may be right up someone else's alley.
Also, minor spoilers ahead for the first half of the book.
Setting:
The book takes place in the world of Arlas. Run of the mill fantasy world with magic, monsters, and dragons. The existence of the system could make the world deeper than it first seems and there is potential here. All in all a decent setting.
Story/Plot:
Arc is summoned to a desolate world by the system to start her training. This training involves fighting a constant stream of monsters in an effort to become strong enough to be a "hero". After 5 years she completes the training, becoming SS-Tier and the system drops her off in the world of Arlas.
The story simply revolves around Arc navigating Arlas. There is no real plot here, and if there is then maybe I didn't listen long enough to find one. The system says the reason for Arc's summoning is because she's needed to do..something. The command or quest is full of errors and neither we nor Arc know what she's actually supposed to do. With no idea what to do, Arc is left wandering Arlas.
Before long she meets Silan (it may be spelled differently), a noble girl under attack by mercenaries. Silan is trying to find the Hermit that supposedly resides somewhere in the mountains, and Arc sort of piggy-backs on Silan's quest.
I guess the system's glitched quest is supposed to invoke a feeling of mystery but all it does is make me not care about it at all. Even Arc just says 'fuck it' and proceeds to ignore it. I would have much rather get an actual quest for Arc to act as a hook that pushes her forward in exploring the world. She could have still met Silan and still helped her find the Hermit, but also advanced her own quest.
Characters:
At the halfway point the only characters who had any substance to them were Arc and Silan. Most side characters get limited screen time and then they're gone. There's nothing wrong with this except many of the side characers get their own POV section to describe their encounter with Arc only to never show up again. Their only purpose is to show how awesome Arc is and I imagine this is much better when reading instead of listening because the narration for these characters is sub-par.
Arc is absurdly strong. She is an SS-Tier individual in a world where being a D-Tier adventurer is considered a powerhouse (compared to normal humans at least). B-Tier individuals are commanders of military platoons and A-Tier individuals lead entire armies and have multiple worldly achievements under their belt. S-Tier are so few and far between that most people never have and never will see one, and SS-Tier is basically unheard of.
She kills high tier monsters and people with a snap of her fingers and without breaking a sweat. She has practically reached godhood in terms of power and she mentions more than once that those 5 years she spent in that frozen hell to become this strong were like an eternity.
I wasn't sure about this part. I tried to wrap my hear around it but it seems like spending 5 years to become the force of nature she is doesn't seem all that long when others can only ever dream of reaching A-tier.
She also hides the fact that she's SS-Tier, not wanting the attention or the fame that such a high tier could bring. Then she goes ahead and uses her most powerful spells to take care of every minor thing. She does a very poor job of keeping herself out of the spotlight even receiving a medal of bravery from the empire's knights at one point.
I get that this is supposed to create some sort of conflict, and Arc is portrayed as an aloof character, but the way it's executed just makes her seem kind of dumb.
Silan is a sheltered noble girl whose family might all get killed because of a succession war. In a desperate attempt to save herself and her family she goes looking for the elusive 'Hermit' to ask for aid. There is a fair bit of urgency to this quest yet Silan keeps insisting that they walk when Arc has access to the most powerful teleportation skill available. The reason being because it makes her nauseous.
It does seem Silan may not be all that keen to save her family and Arc even questions her if the dangers involved is worth it to go through with the journey. It opens up an interesting conflict for Silan but I didn't make it far enough to see if it actually goes anywhere.
Apparently Silan is no stranger to blood and guts, and she even laughs when Arc abandons some dude in the middle of a monster infested forest, but for some reason still doesn't like it when Arc freezes people to death.
That said, I do like both Arc and Silan. I like their relationship and that Arc insists Silan is the only one who will ever know her secret. It creates a fun dynamic between the two when Arc displayes her immense powers and other people lose their minds while Silan is like 'yep, just another tuesday'.
Misc:
My biggest gripe with this book by far is the amount of times people 'blink' as a reaction or a response to something or as a show of surprise. Holy hell. It may sound strange to be annoyed by that but when characters are constantly blinking because of something another character said or did multiple times in a single paragraph it rips you out of any immersion you had.
To me, 'blinking' is something you'd do when you're so surprised you're at a loss for words. Here, people blink when they're asked a question. They blink when another character pulls out a box of candy. And they blink when they see a bowl of soup. It. Never. Stops.
Blinking isn't the only instance of this kind of thing. People also cannot stop nodding. Sometimes they even blink and nod at the same time. This book could really use an editor to curb some of the repetition and poor choice of words.
There are some good parts but most of them are plagued with issues too.
For example I love the concept of absolute frost powers. Cold sorceries are some of my favourite when it comes to magic in novels or games. One of her powers can literally freeze your perception of time which sounds (and is) awesome.
Arc has multiple frost abilities in her arsenal but for the life of me I cannot tell them apart. They're all a variation of 'freeze everything'. Apart from the time freezing one, there is little variety in their function which is a shame because there is so much that can be done here. Granted I only listened to half the book so maybe this system was expanded upon, but the way the book was headed I doubt it.
Narration:
The narration fell flat for me. The only unique voice is Arc and to some extent Silan.
There is little to no variation in voices, inflection, or mannerism between characters. Everyone sounds pretty much the same. There is also a lack of volume and pitch, making the narration very monotonous. This is esspecially noticable for male characters.
This monotone style means that there is also no sense of urgency to anything. For example, Arc, Silan, and Rory come upon a dragon in the mountains. Dragons are a stuff of legend, S-Tier or even SS-Tier they will absolutely obliterate anyone in an instant. Even heroes die to them. Just seeing one and living to tell the tale is already a miracle.
When this dragon spits out an inferno towards them, Arc contemplates what to do. Does she stop the attack and in doing so reveal her strength? Or does she grab the others and run?
Before she can decide, Rory lifts her staff and chants "Mass Teleport". Rory doesn't know about Arc's strength. She's a B-Tier adventurer and is pissing her pants seeing the dragon attacking, rightfully so.
So when she chants her spell she is desperate. But the narration for this bit is just as dry and monotonous as everything else. I've heard more urgency and desperation from someone ordering a pizza.
Maybe this sort of thing could be attributed to a lack of direction but it made the whole ordeal almost comical with the juxtaposition between the narration and the event itself.
I do like the narration for Arc. She is an aloof character (for the most part) and the narration captures that perfectly. That style seems to bleed into everyone else though and it starts sounding like nobody cares about anything. Sometimes people even sound like they're extremely sick or just straight up dying during a normal conversation.
I like a good power fantasy when done well. Unfortunately, Arc misses the mark for me.

Suitable for a YA audience
I bought this book because of the favourable reviews. I found the heroine (and her girlfriend sidekick) very immature and quite irritating , not much substance at all except for her penchant for punching everyone who irritated her or kill anyone who wanted to harm her sidekick. Not much else to the book.
