Summary

School’s out for the end of the world.

Anna and the Apocalypse is a horror comedy about a teenager who faces down a zombie apocalypse with a little help from her friends.

Anna Shepherd is a straight-A student with a lot going on under the surface: She’s struggling with her mom’s death, total friend drama, and the fallout from wasting her time on a very attractive boy. She’s looking forward to skipping town after graduation - but then a zombie apocalypse majorly disrupts the holiday season. It’s going to be very hard to graduate high school without a brain.

To save the day, Anna, her friends, and her frenemies will have to journey straight to the heart of one of the most dangerous places ever known, a place famous for its horror, terror, and pain...high school.

This novel is inspired by the musical feature film, Anna and the Apocalypse.

A must listen!

Being a huge fan of the film this is based on, I wasn't sure what to expect. However I loved every second of it. It wonderfully read and brilliantly written. Even if you havent seen the film, give this ago - you won't regret it. It was lovely learning more about the characters and having them fleshed out. Brilliant stuff - highly recommended!

Christmas and Zombies - what more could you want?

This audio book was amazing. Having seen the film, I had doubts on whether the audio book could live up to it. It definitely did.
There were some parts where the references to the songs in the film felt slightly forced, but this book was still a delight to listen too.
I was worried there would be no songs in this at all, or no mentions to them. But oh boy, there was. The fact that the Fish Wrap was spoken word for word made my day.

I would 100% recommend this book to young adults, it was entertaining and enjoyable. Was it supremely cheesy in parts? Of course, it's also Americanised in parts which I found slightly strange for a book set in a Scottish border town but hey, I'm honestly not complaining too hard.

The film, side note, is also amazing and is a must watch. If there is one thing you do, either go watch the film or read/listen to this book. You won't be disappointed.

Enjoyable book of a fabulous film

The film, “Anna and the Apocalypse” is one of my favourites and the audio book is almost like a companion to it. I got more background on the characters. The gory bits aren’t that gory in the audio book. I also thought it’d be strange not having the songs, but their being mentioned reminded me of their appearance in the film. It’s been great to listen to and I’ll be watching the film again through new eyes.
I would give the audiobook five stars, but the narrator’s accents (especially Scottish) were poor. It struck me as odd that “book” Anna and her dad are Scottish, but the film versions are both English. The audio book would have been more enjoyable if the narrator hadn’t tried (and failed) at a Scottish accent. Sorry but I have to be true.
Overall though, I enjoyed the book and will no doubt listen to it again. And go and watch the film 🎥

So Pleased I Found This Book!!!

I was recommended by a friend and was not disappointed as it was great. Every single line was gripping and I wanted to hear more and I was genuinely upset when the book finished ! It was an entertaining read and although I don't like gory stuff it was told in a way that was exciting but not too graphic. I loved the characters in particular John as he was quite selfless and very funny. I would recommend this for any curious teenagers who like action who a bit of horror!!! Emilia aged 13
