About this listen
Anastasia is the princess no one needs: the fourth daughter born to an emperor without a son, and the only royal lacking a magical gift.
Until she collides with a young Cossack rebel, changing both their lives forever.
Damien is taken from everything he knows and raised as a ward of the Romanovs.
Anastasia develops a strange kind of magic shared only by the Black Monk Rasputin.
While her power grows in secret, boosted by forbidden contact with Damien, Anastasia makes a mistake with terrible consequences.
Fate grants her a single chance to set it right, but saving what she lost may cost everything she loves.
The Lark notes: I think what captivates us about Anastasia is our dream of what could have been. Anastasia’s death was so tragic that I wanted to give her another life.
This book is not a retelling of any other Anastasia story. It’s set in 1919 in a world similar to ours, but with magic. My next series will be a vampire family saga set in the modern version of that same world.
This is my fantasy of the happy ending Anastasia deserved. Not because she was a Romanov, but because she was a human. I want all of you to have the happy ending you deserve—it’s why I love writing romance.
Anastasia is an epic enemies-to-lovers fantasy romance. It is intended for mature listeners and contains spicy scenes not suitable for all ages.

Beautifully written
Incredible storytelling and a narration to match. I’ve wanted to read this for a while but the audiobook is a bonus. I enjoyed this story immensely although it was a little long-winded. I love the romance factor but it wasn’t the focal point of the story until around the 60-65% mark.
★ I loved how the story started from Anastasia’s childhood to her formative years. The development of her character and the relationships she shared with the people in her life added layers and depth.
★ I loved the friendship between her and Damien- the undertone of their rivalry and bickering in the early days only highlighted how much it was inevitable to have a soulmate and romantic relationship.
★ Artemis is the real MVP here!
★ I didn’t know how much I needed that plot twist!!
I’m not versed in Russian history or know much about the Romanovs or Cossack people but it’s always a bit of a struggle to imagine “real persons/ events” to be fictional.

Amazing
Amazing story and writing. I loved every minute of it.
The voice actors really gave life to the characters and their voice fit perfectly. I am in love. If you love Anastasia, the russian vibe of the 1910, tea parties, balls and snow, dark forests and riding to an open sky you will love. It gets dark, as does life, but it's a great lesson on love and on becoming an adult.

Anastasia retelling
I've always loved Anastasia story, first with the cartoon and now with this book. The first part of the book is a bit slow but entertaining at the same time, if you already know the general story of anastasia yore going to read about stuff that are familiar with you but with a fantasy twist. Obviously I loved the developing of the love story between Anastasia and Damien and their journey together was rollercoaster of emotions that make me feel like I was inside the book.
Thank you Sphie Lark for giving me the opportunity to relive one of my favourite fairy tale from my childhood in a new fantasy version.
