Summary
This is a two-act, simulated live theatrical production of the story of the ministry, passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth from the point of view of one of His closest friends, the Apostle Simon Peter. As the author/actor, I'd very much like to discourage anyone from simply listening to the script. This is intended to be a full theatrical, emotional, educational, and inspiring evening of reflection on the ministry, passion, death, and resurrection of Christ, but in a way that hopes to bring an audience as close to an actual emotional experience of these events as might be possible, once that essential "suspension of belief" takes hold.
As performed by the author over these last 28 years, primarily during the Christian liturgical season of Lent, this production involves carefully selected royalty-paid pieces of music chosen for their contribution to the specific emotion of the moment, 19 distinct pieces in Act I, and another nine pieces in Act II, as well as a variety of complementary sound effects. My hope in publishing it as an audiobook is to make it available to much wider audiences than my live performances could ever hope to do, adding perhaps one more small contribution to the Catholic Church's ongoing efforts to help us all develop a closer personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Perhaps by "bringing alive the historical Jesus through the magic of theater," the very purpose for which my Scripture on Stage endeavor was created, I'll be able to offer some small help to Christians looking to understand and consider more deeply who Jesus was to those who were privileged to know Him personally, as well as what He endured for the salvation of each of us.
I'm very grateful to a wonderful God for being always at my side, and thereby helping audiences time and again to rise to their feet at the close of a theatrical program intended primarily for His greater honor and glory.
